The sun had barely just risen over the horizon when Calvin woke up. It was one of those odd moments when he was instantly alert and had his next actions all planned out, as if during the hours he’d been asleep, he wasn’t actually resting but was running drills in his head instead. Moving with single-minded efficiency, he ate last night’s leftovers for breakfast, showered, got dressed, tidied up what he could of the place, and then borrowed an unused messenger bag that Arden had in his closet to pack some stuff. After hailing a taxi that would be taking him to the hotel where he was still checked in, he sent Arden a brief message to inform him of his movements.
