Assumptions are a funny thing. One popular take is that when a person assumes things, it “makes an ‘ass’ out of ‘u’ and ‘me.’” They can easily make a mess out of situations, especially when the assumption someone is making is just way off the mark.
In Kade’s case, the assumption his lover was making was just too perfect and too convenient for words.
“…You’re right,” Kade found himself saying before his brain could catch up with his mouth. “I’m sorry for trying to hide it. I just thought… since you’re a fan of theirs… their bad opinion might make you feel so down that…”
When Kade deliberately didn’t finish the thought, Arden was left to once again assume what he was trying to say.
“Oh,” he said, genuinely surprised. “That I might want to hurt myself?”
With a solemn expression, Kade nod
