That wasn’t so surprising. It only meant that what they had between them simply wasn’t that strong.
At the start, Sam’s innocent goal had been to try and pay forward what his benefactress had done for him when he was a lost and aimless young man.
But Calvin was different from him to begin with. If nothing else, he already had a path neatly laid out that he only needed to follow.
