Chapter 1: The Ordinary Life of Jason Black
Chapter 1: The Ordinary Life of Jason Black
Jason Black’s alarm blared at exactly 6:30 a.m., dragging him out of a dreamless sleep that had him half-living in a cubicle and half in a battle arena. Groaning, he slapped the snooze button, wondering how one man could be so relentlessly ordinary.

That evening, as Jason walked home, the city seemed… different. The air felt heavier, electric, and strangely resonant. He passed an alleyway and heard a low, almost imperceptible hum. Curious—or foolish—he peeked inside.
A figure stood at the end of the alley, hood up, shadowed. “Jason Black,” it said, voice smooth and oddly compelling. “You don’t know me yet, but soon, you will. And soon, everything you think you know about yourself… will change.”
Jason blinked. “Uh… hi?”
The figure extended a hand, and in it lay a small, metallic object, pulsing faintly like a heartbeat. “Take it. Your life is about to get very… interesting.”
Against every instinct screaming in his brain, Jason reached out and touched it.
And then, everything went white.
When he woke up, it was like he had slept for a thousand years. The city noises were gone, replaced by a deep, resonant hum inside his own head. His body felt… different. Stronger. Faster. Sharper.
He tested it. A flick of his fingers sent a stack of papers flying across the room with a speed and precision that made him yelp. “What the hell…” he muttered.
From that moment, Jason knew one thing for certain: his life as an ordinary, unnoticed man was officially over.
And, somewhere deep down, he couldn’t wait to see Carlton’s smug face when he realized that Jason Black… was no longer ordinary.
