Chapter 2

Lynn’s POV: I was walking through the forest with my mate, James. We wanted to get some fresh air and get away from our Alpha, Evan. We are part of the Blood Moon Pack and my mate is his Beta. He’s been up our ass about getting things done and we just needed a break. He hasn’t been able to find his mate and it’s driven him a little crazy. “What are you thinking about?” James could tell something was on my mind. “I don’t know, something about this area seems off. I smell... BLOOD!” I began to freak out and search for the source. James was searching as well because he could smell how much there was. “I FOUND HER!” James yelled. I ran over to her and immediately saw a note on her jacket. “IF FOUND RETURN TO JADE MOON PACK” James and I looked at each other. “I don’t know if we should bring her back there. I mean, look at her!” I screamed at James. This poor girl was beaten almost death and I felt protective of her. He knew we shouldn’t but we had to, it was the law. Without a second thought, he picked her up and we made our way back to her pack. The pack barrier guards were there when we walked up and they quickly took the girl away from James. A tear fell down my cheek as I watched her lifeless body thrown around without a care. I turned away and ran with James following after me. Evans POV: Lynn and James had been gone a couple hours, I was starting to worry. They were my Beta and sister/my number one fighter, I needed them to keep a handle on things. I know I haven’t been the easiest to get along with lately, but loneliness will do that to someone, especially when you have a wolf yelling at you half the day. Why haven’t you found our mate yet? It’s not that easy Nash, you know that. It is, go and find her. Just stop, we will find her when it’s meant to be. Nash huffed and retreated back to the back of my mind. He knew I was right. I was feeling irritated and impatient, I needed to get out and go for a run, let Nash out for a bit. I was about to open the door when Lynn and James came in bloodied and tired. Lynn fell to the ground and cried. James walked past her and sat on the couch. He looked defeated.“What the hell happened?” I was worried and then a smell hit me, it smelled of lavender and vanilla with a hint of mint. It smelled amazing. Then I realized it was coming from the blood on their clothes and skin. MATE! Mate is hurt! Have to find mate! Nash took over before I could stop him. “WHOS BLOOD IS THIS?!” He was using his alpha tone and James was visibly scared. Lynn got up and stepped between us and used her calm tone which always calmed me down, probably because she’s my sister.  “We found a girl on the bank at the river, she was from the Jade Moon Pack. She was very injured, but she had claim papers on her so we took her back to their pack. We came straight back. Is everything okay?” Nash retreated and I was given back full control. “Her scent, Nash said she was our mate.” I paused, “You said the Jade Moon Pack?” Lynn nodded her head. Damn, if my mate was really in there, that pack was full of murderous wolves who didn’t care who they hurt or killed. They slaughtered children, raped their families and children and once upon a time they had breeders. The Elders made that illegal because it was killing so many She-Wolves. “I need a plan to get over there and find out if she is our mate, and if she’s hurt I need to get there NOW!” James called in our Gamma, Eddie, and we phoned the Jade Moon Pack. “John, it’s Evan, haven’t spoken in a while. How have you been?” He was pretty short on the phone, but after about fifteen minutes, we agreed to have my pack over in his territory for dinner tomorrow evening. I had James and Eddie gather our warriors and spotters to go ahead and scope out the territory. Lynn described the girl as short, curvy body, nice boobs and black hair. Obviously injured. They stayed outside all night, but didn’t see anyone fitting the description.I laid down and waited for the evening, finally drifting to sleep. John’s POV: “Where is Nicole? I need dinner made immediately for tonight’s gathering with the Blood Moon Pack!” I was yelling at whoever would listen. “She’s still in the hospital babe, why didn’t you just kill her?” Andrea said while rubbing my waist and pulling my zipper. “Not now woman, I’m not interested. I think I’ll go pay her a visit and I’m going to bring the witch with me.” Andrea looked at me confused, but I had a plan. “Bonnie, meet me at the pack hospital, I finally know how you can pay me back.” I grinned and made my way to the doctors. I entered Nicole’s room and she was still unconscious. Perfect. Bonnie entered shortly after I did. “I need you to heal every part of her body so she can be at full speed tonight. We have another pack coming and I don’t want her anywhere near there. She needs everything done and be gone.” Bonnie said nothing back, she just went over to Anna and picked up her hands. She spoke some weird words and like that, Nicole was good as new. She woke up almost immediately. “Bonnie, your services are no longer needed.” I pushed her out the door before she could reply. I turned back to Nicole who was already cowering on the bed. I grabbed her by the arm and pulled out her IVs. She screamed in pain, but I didn’t care. “You will have our pack house clean and dinner done by 5:30PM! Then I have a special job for you.”
