The Alphas Miracle

Nicole's POV: I woke up to a pain in my side. I lifted up my shirt to see the fresh black bruises that had formed over night. I messed up last nights dinner “again” and John, my alpha decided to beat me senseless because of it. I’ve never been shown any kindness since my parents were killed. Even more so since I didn’t shift on my sixteenth birthday. My parents were killed by rogue wolves trying to get to John and his mate, Andrea. I was only twelve at the time. They sacrificed their lives for them and they treated me like dirt after that. My wolf is inside me. I talk to her to everyday. Her name is Sky. I just don’t understand why we haven’t been able to shift. I keep telling myself one day I will run away and finally be able to act like a human, just with a double personality. Or maybe I will find my mate, who will love and protect me. And just like that I’m slapped back into reality. John came down into my “room” which was no more then a bald basement with a concrete floor and the essentials I needed to survive. “WHY ISN’T BREAKFAST READY?!” He screamed in my face. I felt blood start to puddle in my mouth. I spit it out at his feet. “It would be ready if you hadn’t beaten me to a bloody pulp til early morning!” That earned me another slap to the face. “Hurry up and get it done. NOW!” He turned and walked up the stairs. I walked backwards til I was against the wall and slid down. I couldn’t hold back the tears that started to fall. I quickly wiped them away and went upstairs.I made breakfast quickly, making sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and a plate of various fruits. I went back to my room and waited for my next tasks. Our pack didn’t have a lot of people, maybe two hundred or so, and I was the first who didn’t shift on their sixteenth birthday. Why did I have to be so strange? Why are you so worried? Sky, you know why. We turn eighteen in a month, we will finally be able to leave. What if something bad happens? We have been preparing for this, we will get out. Sky went back to the back of my mind when we heard the door open. I didn’t know who it was at first, then I smelled him. Beta Greg had tried numerous times to claim me. I always refused even when he had a mate and he stopped once I didn’t shift, so why was he here now? “Nicole, you are needed in the courtyard immediately!” I made my way up the stairs and as soon as I got to the living room, a bag was thrown over my head. I heard giggles and whispers but I couldn’t make out what anyone was saying. I felt my body get picked up and carried. I was fighting so hard to get away. I was thrown to the ground and the bag was ripped off my head. John, Greg, Blake(John’s Gamma) and John and Greg’s mates were standing around me. Andrea and Wren had an evil smirk on their face. All at once, they all started to beat me. They were kicking me and punching me. Pretty soon the guys stopped and let their women finish me off. Andrea grabbed my right arm and pulled back so hard, I felt it snap. Wren had my ankles so I couldn’t get away. They kicked me in the ribs and head until they were satisfied. I was fighting the darkness, I was not going to give in, but I had no strength left. Blake picked me up and carried me to the river. “Please don’t.” I was trying to plead with him through my muffled breaths, but he just laughed. He walked out into the water and threw me in. The water was freezing and immediately gave me a little strength to yell for help. No one from the pack could hear me. Our mighty Alpha is the one who is doing this to me, and for what? My body was being pulled under the water, my arm was broken and because I hadn’t shifted, it wasn’t healing fast.They all left, I caught small glimpses of them as I came up for air. I took a big breath and just let myself go. I hoped to drift far away and never return. I gave into the darkness. Mom and Dad, I’m coming to you.
