John’s POV:
Blake just left with Nicole, thank Goddess. I didn’t want her ruining the dinner between our packs. Evan was known for his merciless ways and for him to initiate dinner is very odd, he must want something so everything has to be perfect. Nicole would ruin that by being here alone. The Blood Moon packs top members would be here with in the hour. I scurried around to get last minute things done when I heard my guards finally let out their howl. They were here.
Evan's POV:
We pulled up to the Jade Moon pack house and it looked horrible. It was old and decrepit, had termite damage and some pieces of the roof shingles were missing. Eddie slipped away from us to go join the spotters to see what we were going into.
“Micah, what all have y’all seen over the last twenty four hours?” Eddie asked.
Micah shook his head, “Nothing much to report. I think they only have one breeder, they took her out shortly before you arrived. Other then that, everything seems normal, which doesn’t sit right with me.”
“I agree, let me go join Evan and the others and see what we get.” He turned and paused, “I will link you details once I have them. Stay in place.”
I saw Eddie approach behind a tree as we were still waiting to be let inside. He slipped back in the group unnoticed just as the door opened.
A woman stepped out and spoke gently, “Hello Evan Green and other members of the Blood Moon Pack. Welcome to the Jade Moon Pack, I am Andrea, pleasure is ours.” I’m guessing she is John’s mate and Luna if this pack. He appeared shortly after her.
“Hello Evan, it’s been a while. Hope all is well.” John spoke to me as if we were long lost friends. I didn’t trust him at all, he was sneaky and could manipulate anyone.
“I have some things to discuss with you, but let’s do that over dinner. Can we come in?” I asked as I was growing impatient.
“Yes please, my apologies,” John responded quickly. I don’t think he wanted to be on my bad side. He knew my reputation. We entered the living room and I will say the inside looks way better then the outside.
At least they take care of some things around here.
Nash wasn’t too happy with how things were going so far. We followed John and his mate to the kitchen and dining area when that smell hit me again. But I didn’t smell blood this time.
John turned to me, “So what brings you to our territory?”
I had to come up with someone fast. Why hadn’t I thought of this before?
“ Well John, we heard through the grapevine that you were wanting to expand your territory, is that true?” John looked at me like a lost puppy. I don’t know if he actually was, I just spoke what came to mind.
“Now that you mention it, I was thinking about it, but I never said anything to anyone about it. So how did you hear this?” John asked. Uh-oh. What was I going to say?
“There was word at the docks that you wanted to build housing for your pack but I guess I heard the pack wrong. We were just wanting to offer our services to help out in exchange for part of the land. Since we are joining territories, but it’s up to you.”
I only hopes he believed my bluff.
“Good job man, that was pretty convincing.” Eddie said through the mind link. I just nodded my head. Halfway through dinner, a man came through the back door. He approached John and bowed.
“Evan, this is my Gamma, Blake. Blake, this is the Blood Moon Pack and their Alpha, Evan Green.”
“Nice to meet you.” He held out his hand and I could smell her scent again and there was blood present.
I tried hard to control Nash, and shook his hand while gritting my teeth.
“I need you and the others to come to the back door undetected and follow his scent wherever it goes and report back to me as soon as possible.” I said to Micah through the mindlink. He didn’t respond but I knew he was on top of things. He was the best tracker/spotter I had.
We finished eating dinner and John asked to join him outside. We went out to the back where he lit a small fire and we had a beer.
“Alpha, we found a hut, I think they have a breeder, I can smell blood from out here. What should we do?” Micah said through the link.
“Stay there until the man returns. When he does, I want you three to kill him. Don’t let him even get inside to her.”
“Okay Alpha, may I ask why we are doing this?”
“I think she’s my mate, but even if she isn’t, no one deserves that.”
I cut the link off and finished my beer. Eddie was talking to John and Andrea while I was speaking with a few other members. I tried getting some dirt on their Alpha. Nothing worked, they stayed loyal no matter what. Then I saw him. That man was leaving the pack house and probably going back to the hut. Just a few minutes and there was going to be war.
