CHAPTER 9 Malrik POV I scoffed on hearing her speak. Staring at her angry face made my jaw clenched and I felt my wolf roar in anger. Does this witch think this act would make me quit? She clearly knew how her act would ruin my kingdom. Did she truly expect me to sit back and watch her destroy everything I've built? "Why?" My eyes gleamed. "You're stuck in my body. Might as well suffer, witch!” I snapped. She crossed the room in my body. "You did that on purpose. During the council meeting." She replied, facing me. I stared at her with a smirk playing on my face. I withdrew my hand slowly, licking my fingers clean. She tasted sweet, though. "What was that for?" She asked and I stood from the bed. "You did–" "You humiliated yourself." I blurted. "A mourning robe? Seriously?" I growled. The thought that she chose to wear such a robe out of every other robe in my wardrobe made me wonder. How could I switch my body with such a dummy? "How was I supposed to know?" She flushed. My wolf fumed, pacing madly inside me. She looked beautiful but might be much dumb than I thought. I slapped a hand over my face, flustered. I will surely kill her if I finally get a solution to this. "It's all because you're pretending to be the Wolf King." I replied. "If you keep making mistakes, the council will know something's wrong." I added, staking a step closer to her. She stepped back, though she was tall in my body. "How do I know the black robe was for mourning?" She asked. I glared at her, hoping I could put an end to it all but I couldn't. I had to stay that way until I could get this sorted. But I couldn't bear to watch her ruin my hard work. Why not teach her about it? My wolf suggested. I glanced at her once more before walking to the shelf. I had to come up with something to save my kingdom. "If we're stuck like this, you need to learn how to rule my kingdom." I said. "What?" She asked. "I'm not trying to rule your kingdom." She bristled. "I never wanted you to," I yelled and her eyes widened. "Just do this while you still share my body," I replied, pulling books from the shelf. "Oh," I heard her mutter. "We don't even know if we can switch back permanently," I replied. I turned slightly to face her as her eyes followed mine, a heavy weight settled between us, making the silence feel strange. She glanced at me once again before sinking onto the bed. "I want you to stop destroying everything I've built," I replied, dropping the book for her. "What is this for?" She asked, referring to the books. I placed my hand in the books, staring at her. "Learn the laws. The traditions. Politics." I ordered and she gasped. "We start now." I added and she raised a brow. "I can't-" "Your opinion is not needed," I blurted. "You must do this," I barked, leaning closer. She stared at me, frowned before picking the book reluctantly. I sat beside her and for hours, I drilled Lyra on the hierarchy of the seven packs. What was expected of each pack and most especially that of my pack. She was new to everything, asking questions about everything I mentioned. "The council's structure in this pack is totally different from that of others and also the traditional garment," I explained. "That is why you should care about how I look anytime you have to step out for any occasion." "Does that matter?" She asked, simply and I glared at her. "Alright, I know." She replied, faking a smile. Good. She had better not mess with me. I resumed teaching her and she nodded at everything teaching. "Well." She said, when I was done with the laws. "What else do I have to know?" She asked. She opened another page of the book and I stopped her, picking another book. "Here," I said. "Trade agreements, treaties, alliances," I explained to her and she nodded, listening to my explanation about that. It took hours to explain each part of the treaties to her. Each occasion and how treaties were being made to the pack. The duties of each member of the pack and what are meant to be done and what was not meant to. She nodded at intervals. She didn't seem to be fully interested in it but I explained in the simplest form she could understand. If only she could comprehend my terms. "Geez." She replied, touching her head. "What's wrong?" I asked, when she flicked her eyes in my body. "My head is spinning, seriously." She said, touching her head. I knew it. "How do you remember all this?" She asked, referring to the terms. I expected her to struggle with the terms. I leaned backward, folding my arms. "What do you expect? I've been ruling since I was sixteen," I replied and she gasped with widened eyes. I almost smiled at her expression. "I had no choice." I added, simply. She stared for a while. "What happened to your father?" She asked. "You don't," I paused, considering the fact that she needed to know. She had to play my role perfectly. "He was killed." My jaw tightened. "What?" She asked not hiding her shock. "The council said it was a rogue attack," I paused, recalling how the council had explained then. My blood boiled at the thought. "But I've never believed that," I explained. "Why?" She asked, interested in the conversation. Just noticing how inquisitive she was. "Are you that curious?" I asked and she nodded, eagerly. I leaned closer to her, wanting to point at a passage for her to see but I paused when my breast brushed her arm. Goddess. My wolf yip at the touch. I freezed and she was the same too, staring right at me. I could sense my breast itching while Lyra c**k twitches in my body. My breath hitches with my eyes darkened. She made to pull closer, knowing I couldn't stop if she moved any closer. I poke instead. "Don't." I warned. "I'm not doing anything," Lyra protested, pulling back. "I only." She paused when I straightened up quickly. "We need to focus." I replied in Lyra's voice, clearing my throat but the air was thick and I could feel her breath even though we were a bit distant. Lyra shifts before speaking. "Every time we get close, it's like—" "Like fire," I finished quietly. "I know." I added and our eyes locked. We both stared at each other intensely, I wanted to look away but I couldn't. "You know that too," Lyra whispered in my voice. I blinked my eyes finally able to look away. I pull away, turning away. "Keep reading," I replied, clearing my throat again. "Council session tomorrow," I added and she picked the book to read again. I nodded, watching how she seemed serious with the book she was reading. That was best for her. I stood from the bed, walking to the shelf to pick in search of any book related to body switching. Searching through the shelf, there wasn't anything that seemed close to it. Those that mean we can't return finally? My wolf asked and I growled. Doubting the thought. I had to return, at all costs. After a moment, I glanced back to see Lyra. She had fallen asleep on the bed. She wasn't lying properly on the bed. If anyone walked in to see my body lying that way, they would question when I began sleeping in such an uncomfortable way. I walked up to her, draped a blanket over her. I stood still, staring at her. Standing close to her, I felt something twisting in my chest. Staring at her in my body, standing that way made me wonder again. What if we never switch back?
