For centuries, the nations of Lefia lived in fragile peace, until the rise of the Neiter Nation—an empire that uncovered weapons of unimaginable destruction. With ruthless efficiency, they crushed all who defied them, turning entire kingdoms to ash. Those who wished to survive had but one choice: kneel or perish.

Forced into servitude, countless warriors were conscripted into Neiter’s unstoppable war machine, marching against their own brethren. One by one, the nations of Lefia fell, until the entire continent lay in chains beneath Neiter’s iron rule.

But word of Lefia’s fall echoed across the seas, reaching the distant shores of Regia. Knowing they were next, the nations of Regia set aside their differences, forging a desperate alliance against the coming storm.

Jim Slavn, a young soldier stationed at the port city of Gorgon, lived a simple life with his family—until the day doom arrived at his doorstep. While standing watch, he saw them: thousands of Neiter warships, their sails black against the horizon, creeping toward the harbour like the shadow of death itself.

As war descends upon Regia, the question remains—can they withstand the tide of annihilation, or will they fall as Lefia did before them?

Chapter 1. Invation
°°° “Hej Jim, vakna! (Hey Jim, wake up!)” Thus began the clamor that shattered the silence of oblivion, the very first sound to greet Jim in his bewildering new existence. He had been reborn in the enigmatic realm of UNDERLIGHT—a world where magic was as commonplace as the rising sun, yet the land was perennially torn asunder by ceaseless wars and ruthless strife. Jim’s senses were dulled by the haze of his sudden resurrection when a forceful slap jarred him into semi-consciousness. As he slowly opened his eyes, he beheld a scene of apocalyptic ruin: ancient fortifications crumbling into dust, towers aflame, and shards of concrete and rubble strewn hither and thither. The acrid tang of smoke mingled with the heat of embers; every so often, scalding pebbles flew past him as if propelled by the very wrath of the heavens. A rugged, dashing figure—brandishing a broken sword and radiating urgency—bellowed in a language alien yet vaguely familiar, “Hej, du måste gå upp, vi måste komma härifrån, den här fästningen kunde inte längre försvaras!” Before Jim could piece together the words, the man cried out again, “Monster! Det r flygande monster som spottar eld, de förstör denna fästning!” The word “monster” reverberated in Jim’s mind, igniting a disquiet that mingled with his profound confusion. “Monsters? Spottar eld? What do you mean?” Jim inquired, his voice betraying both astonishment and terror. With no time for further explanation, the stranger seized his arm. “Vi har inte tid längre, låt oss springa österut, gemensamma styrkor hjälper oss, skynda dig och sätt dig på din häst!” he commanded. Though disoriented and overwhelmed, Jim complied, mounting the horse that would carry him away from the ruins of a collapsing world. In the tumult of battle and burning ruins, fragments of his former life began to resurface. Jim—an unassuming 27-year-old history teacher with neatly parted black hair and a pair of modest spectacles—had once led a quiet, solitary existence. Orphaned and without siblings, his life was a catalogue of routine and mild obscurity. His attire, relics of an ancient style, mattered little to him; he cared not for worldly fashions. The last memory he clung to was of a sunlit journey into the mountains to research ancient sites, a brief encounter with a stray cat, and then—a reckless burst of speed that ended in a violent collision with a colossal tree. A kindly old man had rescued him, ferrying him to a distant hospital along desolate roads, only for fate to intervene when the old man’s car ran out of gas, leaving him—and its hope of salvation—to perish. Now, as Jim rode through the embers of a war-torn landscape, a torrent of thoughts surged within him. “Wait a minute,” he mused bitterly, “am I dead? Is it that the old man’s car, having run out of gas, left me to die? Or, perhaps, have I been granted a second chance—a rebirth into another world entirely?” His mind, once devoted to the orderly annals of history, now struggled to fathom the surreal spectacle unfolding before him: a realm where monsters spat fire and the laws of nature bent to the caprice of magic. As if in answer to his unspoken queries, the very fabric of reality shimmered before him. Hovering in the cool night air was a translucent interface, reminiscent of a game’s command screen, its arcane symbols glowing with an otherworldly light. A soft yet resolute female voice then emanated from this spectral system. [Quests] Head east to the town of Byre Category: Play Difficulty: F Duration: 7 days Reward: 100 Gold 10 point abilities *You will receive a prize as a beginner player Files: - ---------------------------------------- “What? Is there a system in front of me? It’s as though I’ve been thrust into a game. Is this real?” Jim muttered in incredulity. A moment’s hesitation passed before the system offered its inescapable mandate. “Head east to the town of Byre. [Y/N]” Realising that acceptance might be his only path to understanding, Jim murmured, “Yes,” and pressed forward. Almost immediately, the system flashed a congratulatory message: [Congratulations] You get a prize for being a beginner—you receive 500 gold and the previous memories of this body. In an instant, a cascade of memories flooded his mind: the joys and tribulations of childhood, the trials of early adulthood, every hardship and triumph interwoven with the soul of the man he now inhabited. The overwhelming influx of recollections forced Jim to clasp his head in agony, as if the weight of a lifetime had been thrust upon him in mere seconds. “Whose memories are these? Is this the recollection of the body I now possess?” he demanded aloud, his voice trembling with both confusion and pain. Yet, the system offered no reply. Gradually, as the memories merged seamlessly with his own, a stark realisation dawned upon him. “I understand now—I have been reborn in the body of a young man bearing my own name… Jim Slavn,” he whispered, a note of incredulity and acceptance mingling in his tone. In his previous life, he had been a humble teacher living a solitary existence. Now, as Jim Slavn, he discovered he was a soldier—a guardian of the fort that stood vigilant over a bustling harbour. His new form was lean and slightly more muscular, his hair a darker shade of red and cut in a practical, short style. The stark contrast between his former self and his present incarnation was as profound as it was disorienting. Beside him, astride the same noble steed, rode his comrade-in-arms, Captain Klax Forterr. A man of imposing stature, Klax was the stalwart captain of the Gorgon Fort guard division. With his broad shoulders, chiseled features, and close-cropped black hair, Klax exuded an air of unyielding resolve and martial prowess. The world of UNDERLIGHT, as Jim now learned, was divided into two great continents: Lefia and Regia. Lefia had been transformed under the iron grip of the Neiter nation—a regime that, having unearthed weapons of mass destruction, now ruled with ruthless ambition. The Neiter’s designs extended even further, as they launched an inexorable invasion upon the continent of Regia. In defiant unity, the disparate nations of Regia had marshalled a joint force to defend their lands, the harbour now serving as a crucial bastion against the advancing enemy. Rumour had it that the once-secure fort had been breached by the Neiter assault; indeed, an army of flying monsters, their mouths belching flames, had wrought devastation upon its walls. Forced into a hasty retreat, the defenders regrouped, strategising their next move amid the smouldering wreckage. “The soul of my former life may have perished, yet I find myself within a game-like system,” Jim resolved bitterly. “I shall avenge the heinous crimes of the Neiter nation.” Captain Klax, noting Jim’s sudden lucidity, inquired in a gruff tone, “Hey Jim, have you come to your senses?” “I do indeed,” Jim replied, his voice steadier now, fortified by the clarity of his new purpose. “We are bound for Byre City, are we not?” “Indeed, we are. We shall proceed there post-haste and await orders from our superiors,” Klax affirmed. “And what of the people of Gorgon?” Jim pressed, concern lacing his words. “Fear not,” Klax replied, his tone reassuring yet edged with resolve. “Since the Neiter’s dread vessel was first sighted, the inhabitants have been evacuated to Byre. Perhaps you shall even find your family amongst them.” At these words, Jim exhaled a deep, tremulous breath. Gratitude and determination warred within him as he steeled his heart. “Thank goodness—I can finally catch my breath. Then, let us hurry; there is much to do, and time is of the essence.” “By morning’s light, we should reach our destination,” Klax noted with measured optimism. “For this second lease on life, I shall give my utmost,” Jim declared, his voice ringing with resolute defiance. “Armed with this newfound system, I will vanquish the Neiter and restore hope to the realm of Regia. Mark my words, Neiter—you have yet to see the full measure of my resolve.” Thus, as the night deepened and the ruins of a shattered fortress lay silhouetted against a bleeding sky, Jim Slavn—once merely a humble history teacher—embarked upon his extraordinary journey. In this fantastical, war-torn world of UNDERLIGHT, where magic and mayhem reigned, his determination shone as a beacon of defiance against the encroaching darkness.
