Gala Room with an Unwanted Acquaintance

Saturday morning and I am now standing face to face with our stage because our prom dance is now fast approaching and so the student council and some volunteers are now working their asses off to decorate the whole Gala room.

“Hey Amy, where do you wanna put these balloons?” Erick, the student council secretary, called my attention.

“Oh, put it at both edges of the stage Erick, thank you.” I was so busy and I am stressing out my system for this event because I wanted it to be literally perfect because it will be my last prom dance before I throw my hat up in the air and open a new chapter of my life “college” I know it sucks, ugh.

Hours had passed and I decided to let the SSG council and volunteer students have their lunch, except for me, of course, because I would still work my a*s out here in the gala room.

“Okay, guys, you can have your lunch break. Just make sure to return here at 1 so that we can finish these hellish decorations.”

“Yes!”

“Awrighttt!”

“Now that's what I need!”

“Thank God for a lunch break!”

Various reactions from the council and volunteers were heard after my relieving announcement of lunch break.

“Let’s go, Amyyy” Jacky linked her arms to me but I didn’t budge.

“Oh no, Jacky. I will be staying here and will try to finish some small decorations. You can join me if you want?” raising my eyebrows, teasing her because I know how Jacky loves food and would never dare skip a meal.

“Hell to the N.O. Sorry Amesss, you know I would never dare skip a meal or delicious food. I’ll just bring you something for you to eat when I return. Okayyy?” she kissed my cheeks and ran her heart towards her heaven, the cafeteria.

*sighs* “Jacqueline will always be Jacqueline. Forever in love with food.”

I am currently cutting some construction papers for the heart design, but then a sudden feeling of dizziness hit me.

“Oh gosh, guess skipping breakfast and lunch plus stress plus the fast-approaching dance is taking a toll on me, huh?”

I decided to turn around and get my water tumbler to get hydrated but I started to lose balance. I closed my eyes and was waiting to feel the pain of falling. Instead, I felt a slim body holding on to me. When I decided to open my eyes, I saw the devil's spawn named Nikolas, and guess what? I literally slapped his face, IDK why okay, and I pushed him away and yes, you can now say that my butt finally kissed the ground.

“Ouch, I guess that is how you say thank you to me for catching you?” Nikolas was still holding his right face which was now in the shade of red because of my impulsive palm.

“What, you can’t blame me. I, for one second, thought that you were a Maniac earlier. I mean, I was alone here and you just happened to catch me on time when I was about to fall. Still, your heroic action is not counted because you are not muscular enough to hold me because my butt still kissed the ground, remember?”

“Because you caught me off guard, you brainless woman. Instead of thanking me, you slapped and pushed me, remember?” Nikolas' face is just five inches away from mine now. I felt a rush of electricity surge into my whole system that electrocuted me and created a shock that made me pause for a while and admire the face of the man whom I once loved… Oh come on, admit it! You still love the guy, girl. Oh God, I really hate my subconscious sometimes.

Deciding to spare my egotistical self. I pushed Nikolas away, which made him stumble slightly. “Get your filthy face away from me, you git.”

“Amelia Amelia, It makes me wonder why you hate me so much. Makes me wanna think that you like me, do you?” The devil spawn named Nikolas said while both of his hands were inside his pocket and once again leaned his face towards me but turned around quickly.

“Ugh, don’t flatter yourself that much, nerd. I don’t ogle with people who love numbers over people.”

Nikolas started to walk toward me. “Really now, Amelia. Do you really think of me that way?” Nikolas keeps on moving forward and, well, obviously, I am doing the opposite.

“W-well, you are a total Math nerd and you, you cannot den-” I think luck wasn’t on my side today because my word was cut off when I suddenly tripped and Nikolas was right on time to catch me, again. Guess you can imagine our position right now. My hands encircled his neck and his left hand was under my upper posterior part of his body and his right hand held my left scapula.

Everything was in slow motion. Our eyes were like there is something that wants to be expressed but the mouth cannot do. We were so lost in our own world, until…

“Ameliaaa, I bought you your favor- OH MY GOSH!” Jacqueline was screaming at the top of her lungs.

I pushed Nikolas away from me, and yes, my butt met the floor again.

“You should have put some sign of DO NOT DISTURB outside if you decided to make bab-”

“Shut up, Jacqueline. It’s not what you think, okay? This devil here decided to wander around doing his job, which is annoying me and luck wasn’t on my side, so I tripped and was about to fall and-”

“Oh come on, Amy. You don’t have to explain, okay? I was just teasing you, duh.”

“Well, this is not the right time for your teasing, Jacqueline Marie Dela Cruz!”

“Oh come on, Amelia Lilith Mercado Young! Calling me by my full name, guess I must have hit a spot? Such a bubble popper HAHAHA.”

“ Can you just zip your mouth, Jacky? And you, Math nerd, wearing a cool guy facade, can you just leave the gala room and piss someone aside from me?”

“Okay, okay.” Nikolas puts his hands up in the air like a criminal. “Your wish is my command.” Nikolas bowed to me and ran towards the gala room door to go and annoy someone.

“Okay, Amelia. What did really happen to both of you-”

“Jacky, nothing really happened okay. Besides, I don’t wanna associate myself with a guy who just recently broke up with his cheater/traitor girlfriend. You know that it is not one of my hobbies to pick up other girls’ leftovers.”

Jacqueline looked at me, teasingly. “Mhm, why is it so hard to believe that nothing happened to the-”

“Oh just shut up, Jacky, and help us here.”

Jacky turned around and started to skip while singing “ N-O-P-E! So boring”, she said, and turned around to exit the Gala room but-

“Amelia and Nikolas inside the gala room, K-I-S-S-I-.”

“JACQUELINEEE!”

“Okay, Okay. HAHAHA! Love you!”
