Once Qasim had stopped sighing sadly because I forced him to wake up. He got up and made his way to him room as I followed him and waited outside, he stepped out in less than two minutes looking a lot more like he's awake and less like he's a victim of an alien invasion. He smiled at me making me smile back, grabbing my hand he lead the way to his breakfast downstairs in the dining room.
When we finally got downstairs I realised everyone was already eating their designated breakfast and Qasim jumped in his seat next to Abid making me sit next to him. Haleena and Aneesah were eating whilst Abid was just messing around watching them eat. Honestly, it must be fascinating for him to watch Haleena eat seeing as he likes her sort of. God help him and her!
Qasim started eating as his parents walked in grinning wildly. I smiled back quite shyly... well you would if you just walked in holding their son's hand.
"Morning children, anyways Qasim, I came to see you..."
"Yeh, mum"
"I want the two of you, you and Khadijah that is to go out and spend the day together."
Oh.
"Uhm, okay... Can I ask why?"
"Because I said so, that should be reason enough."
I grinned at her as she gave him the "look", he sheepishly nodded.
He scarfed the remains of his breakfast and stood up grabbing me along with him.
"Khadijah, there's some clothes on Qasim's bed for you."
"Oh okay, thank you!"
We both made our way upstairs, me a step behind him. We entered his (our) room slowly and cluelessly. I mean, how am I meant to change with him here?
"You get changed; I'll just have a quick shower in Abid's bathroom."
"Ah, are you sure?" I felt guilty enough for taking his room away from him for a night as it is.
"Yep, I'll be about 15 minutes, tops."
He walked out holding his clothes that he grabbed out of his wardrobe.
I stood there looking at the clothes that Aneesah left for me, my outfit of the day consisted of a black skirt with a black and red plaid button down and a black scarf. I left the plaid shirt untucked and unbuttoned and wore my black under-shirt underneath it. I looked pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
Once I was ready and pleased with my outfit, I folded my clothes and put them at the end of the bed so I'd remember them. I wandered around the room eager to learn more about my husband. His laptop was out on the table so I clicked 'enter' hoping it was unlocked. Luckily it was to which I grinned at. It took a bit of time to actually load but when it was done loading, I looked at the background picture and it was of me! It was a picture that was taken of me on our engagement day. I was laughing and looking away, I was obviously oblivious to the fact that someone was taking a picture of me.
Why would he even have a picture of me? I grinned at the fact that I was worth that much, at least.
I logged off the laptop and put it in its case, determined to clean up a bit. I stood up and picked up the clothes off the futon and began folding them putting all the once messy clothes into neat piles.
There was a knock at the door, "Come in."
The door opened and it was Qasim, his hair wet from his shower and towel in his hand.
He was dressed in a black plain shirt with a "go hard or go home" black hoody on paired with black jeans and black Air Max's. As soon as he put his clothes on we stepped out the room ready to go on our little "date".
We got in the car after we said bye to everyone, Qasim would drop me home with Haleena when we got back home. I wasn't sure what we were going to do and I don't really think Qasim did either.
After about 10 minutes we found ourselves in the car park of the shopping mall in the middle of the high-street. He stepped out of the car and came round to my side opening my door for me, I grinned at his chivalry. We both walked into the mall, he grabbed my hand dragging me into one of the clothes shops- Debenhams, I think it was. He led me to the ladies section, "Come on, pick anything you like, remind me why I hate shopping with women."
I laughed at his attempt to get me to pick some clothes.
I started walking around, dragging him along...
"How about this? You buy something for me, I buy something for you?"
"Fine, that's a good deal!"
"Yay, come on then"
I saw a few dresses and tried them on; they all were good in covering me; long arms and high neckline. I stepped out of the changing room where Qasim was waiting for me diligently; he had a positive reaction every time which made me groan out loud.
"Stop being so positive, even I know this dress makes me look ugly"
A few ladies next to me were laughing, "Bless his soul, he loves you a lot dear!"
I blushed in response to which Qasim smirked.
"Fine, that dress doesn't look so good, try this on” he threw something at me which I just about caught
Walking into the dressing room I shook out the dress it was a black evening dress with the body covered in silver sequins, the arms were long, skintight and the cuffs were tied up with a silver shimmery bow. I tried it on and it fitted so beautifully it flowed down as if it was made for me.. I HAVE TO GET THIS!! I looked at the price tag an inevitably scowled, obviously the thing I liked was out of my set price limit.
I decided to step out and show Qasim his choice at least, twirling around I asked, “What do you think?”
He stared at me as if he was mute,”You look stunning”
“Shame I'm not getting it then”
“What do you mean, why?”
“It's way too expensive for me” I muttered
“It's a good thing you're not paying then!” he stated
“What? No way! You are not buying this for me, I'll never be able to wear it anyways, it's too done up for me”
“You can wear it on our first date after our wedding”
“Qasim, please.. No!”
He rolled his eyes,”Come on Khadijah, don't waste our time being stubborn. Why don't you pick something for me now?”
“Fine but I'm paying for that then”
“No, you're not, it's not a I pay for this you pay me back situation and if you really want to show me you're grateful how about you bless this poor man with that beautiful smile of yours!”
I laughed showing him a cheesy smile, “This is what you want?”
“Always”
“Right” I began walking towards the mens section so I could find something for him, I could hear his footsteps behind me
After looking around I found a leather jacket that looked like it suited him and a pair of dark blue jeans. Settling for these and a perfume set I wouldn't made my husband smelling off, we walked back to the men's changing area.
My husband... I really did like how that sounded. Was I really that attached to a man I met under two months ago? Was I really sure of the fact that he'll care for me the way I so clearly care for him?
I was... Only Allah knows why!
He stepped out a minute later twirling around like an absolute t**t to show me.
"Qasim, do you like them?"
"Yeah, they're nice. Comfy, even!"
"Okay, can we go pay now?"
"Yes, my dearest. Your wish is my command."
I laughed at his cheesiness.
Once we were finally seated in the car I asked him a question;
"Qasim?"
"Yes"
"Why do I love you?"
"I don't know, why do you?"
"I don't know either."
"Thank you for the dress, I loved it”
"You looked good in that."
"Did I?"
He parked into the nearest spot.
"Whoa. Why did you stop?"
He got out, ignoring my question. I just stayed in the car because I was unsure what he was doing. He walked to the passenger car and opened the door for me. I got out. He grabbed my hand and looked at me.
"Khadijah"
"Yeh"
"Do you really not see how beautiful you are to me?"
"No, cause I'm not?"
"Well. You are. A lot. I can't even put it in words. For god's sake, Khadijah, you're so oblivious sometimes."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Stop doubting yourself."
"Okay okay."
"Okay. Let's go now."
"You stopped for that?"
"Yeh."
"Oh wow."
"What?"
"Nothing"
"Tell me"
"I've been waiting for you all my life"
"What do you mean?"
"I love you."
"I love you too"
We got back into the car and he finally drove us to our planned destination... a park.
"A park?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Cause you told me you're childish."
Laughing, I ran to the swing with Qasim hot on my feet. I obviously got there first, he sat on the one next to me. Kicking my feet in the air, I began swinging in the air and Qasim was doing the same.
I liked it. It was nice letting the wind rush through my fingertips and letting my thoughts run free.
After a while I got tired so I stopped to look around, there wasn't much in the park but it was cute and small. Getting off the swing I walked to the slide. It was a squeeze on the slide because I obviously wasn't a toddler but in the end I did slide only to end up on the floor in an awkward position. Qasim miraculously appeared in front of me holding his hand out for me to take. I took his support but he ended up on the floor... I may have pulled too hard. He grunted and stood up.
"Get up yourself!"
I started laughing at his childish behaviour, "Fine!"
Grinning at me he took my hand and began walking us back to the car.
"Hungry?"
"Yeah" I sheepishly replied.
Qasim found us a parking spot outside McDonald's. Yes, the man was taking me to McDonald's for a date. He knew me so well!!
Walking in I sat down at the nearest seat as soon as I told Qasim what I wanted... Large fries and a McFlurry.
After we had eaten we went back to the house so I could go home. It was getting dark. Once we got home we found out that Abid had already dropped Haleeena off so Qasim just needed to drop me off. As soon as we got back to my house I was glad, it felt weird being out for so long now that I was supposed to be getting married.
"Okay, bye..."
"Bye. Khadijah?"
"Yeah."
"I love you, you know?"
"Oh trust me, I know,"
"Ha-ha, go inside now."
"Okay. Bye Qasim. Oh and Qasim, I love you too."
Once I was in bed after spending some time with everyone I checked my phone to see a message from Qasim.
Qasim: u knw, u left ur clothes from yesterday with me and basically... they smell of u and erm... I'd prefer u take the space of ur scarf soon so I can cuddle u rather than ur blimming scarf.
Me: OH.
Qasim: oh?
Me: cute.
Qasim: I am.
Me: Ha-ha.
Qasim: Go sleep.
Me: Why?
Qasim: coz u need it
Me: what does that mean
Qasim: it means I love you and goodnight
Me: Qasim??
He ignored me. He read it and blatantly ignored me. How rude! Oh well, he was right I was tired and I really needed sleep so I was glad to just conk out which I did.
This day has been just... I don't even know... so perfect. Like me. Except I'm not perfect.
