CHAPTER 3
Marks POV
I was with my grandfather in the hospital. At least, that was the least that I could do for him since I never showed up for any of the blind dates that he set up. I was becoming fed up with his nagging and all.
How can a man nag like a woman? I muttered to myself.
He has been pestering me recently with his blind dates. The old man can not just understand that I am a busy man, I had a business to run for crying out loud. His constant nagging is what resulted in his sickness, and I am already becoming fed up.
I walked into the hospital lobby with Jake right by my side. Jake left to meet the doctor so as they could discuss his discharge process. I kept myself busy with my phone as I walked along the lobby. I mistakenly bumped into someone when I was not looking.
“Excuse me, sir. Can you watch where you are going?” a voice said to me, standing in front of me with shock evident on her face. I could see that she nearly fell due to the collision as she was still trying to balance herself.
I just sized her up and noticed that she was nobody of high standards even her dressing would tell you. She was on a floral dress with stopped right above her knees. She packed her hair up in a messy bun and with no makeup on. She had quite a special eye, which I found captivating. Her eyes were of no special colour; it was just black.
“Sir, I am speaking to you. The least you can do is say sorry and stop staring at me like you just saw a ghost” she said again, trying to get my attention.
I was surprised at her gut. She really did not know who she was speaking, which I found really interesting. To converse with someone who does not know who you are.
“Do you know who you are talking to, young lady?” I found myself asking her.
“What’s wrong with men of these days, always behaving insane?” she said to herself, not minding if I could hear her. I couldn’t blame her or anyone but my grandfather who made me to be standing in this hospital lobby conversing with a nobody who knew nothing about respect.
This lady was beginning to get on my nerves, and it was quite frustrating.
“And if I may ask, who are you?” she said, drawing me out of my thoughts.
“I don’t even want to know who you are, and I don’t care to, but it would be nice if you apologized to someone who you almost bumped into. Didn’t your mother teach you manners?” she asked with a stern voice.
“Young lady, it would have been nice if you just went your way”. I said, and I was beginning to get annoyed.
Jake had gone to the doctor in order to process whatsoever he wanted to do. I don’t even know why he was taking so long. If only he had been here earlier, he would have dealt with this mess in front of me. I pinched the bridge between my nose, I was getting really impatient.
I made to leave the hospital building until I felt a force pull me backwards. I turned around only to see a pair of raging eyes. I even forgot that she was still here. Why won’t she just let me go.
“Where do you think you are going to?” she yelled at me this time around, attracting people’s attention to us. People stared at us as if we had suddenly grown two heads. This was definitely not the type of attention I needed right now because this could create a scandal.
I looked around and was met with the shocked expression on Jake’s face, giving him a hard glare. He rushed over to where I was.
“Sorry sir. I was talking to chairman”. He whispered to me.
“Excuse me, miss. May I know what the problem is?” he asked this time around facing the lady.
“Thank God, you came because I was about to spank his ass” she said. I looked at her with shock on my face. Who does this woman think she is.
“He should apologize to me because he almost made me trip. What is something that happened to me?”
“Then I would be responsible for that” I found myself saying to her even though I agreed not to speak.
She scoffed as she looked at me. All I wished for at that moment was nothing but to punish her. Jake looked between me and the lady with a funny look on his face.
“Ma’am, on behalf of my boss, I am sorry” Jake pleaded.
“Oh, so he is your boss?” she asked as she looked at him with pity on her face. What exactly is wrong with this woman.
“I wonder how you cope with someone like him” she said, leaned towards Jake ear.
“Here’s a piece of advice. Try pouring a cup of hot coffee over his head sometimes” she said to him, which earned Jake a laughter.
“I can hear you” I said to her.
“It was meant to be heard” she said as she walked out, not before quaking me. I stared at her back, boring holes into her head.
I was going to deal with her, but definitely not now. I turned to Jake, and I still saw him smiling.
“do you care to tell me why you are smiling?” I asked with a stern voice as I began to walk out of the hospital.
“nothing sir” he said as he scurried forward.
