episode one.. Leah's perspective
I’ve always found peace in the sound of the river behind my cottage, the way it hums like a soft lullaby through the trees. Life in Pelican Town is simple—quiet, even. Or... it was. Then she showed up. The new farmer. With dirt on her boots and stars in her eyes, she walked into this sleepy town like she belonged here. And maybe... she does. Or maybe she’s here to change everything. I’m Leah. And this is how it all started.I first saw her near Pierre’s, standing with a crumpled map and that look in her eye like she knew exactly where she was going, even if the lines on the paper made no sense, her hair was tied back loose, wild like she didn’t care who was watching, and I remember thinking, god, another farmer? but then she waved, and it wasn’t like the usual small-town smile, it was calm and steady and real, like she didn’t need to impress anyone, and I just stared back from my window, wondering why that moment felt heavier than it should have, a few days passed and she was by the lake, sitting on a rock with her boots off, toes in the water, sketching something I couldn’t see, she walked past with a basket of dandelions and she said, “Leah, right?” and I nodded, surprised she remembered, she didn’t say much else, just offered a crooked grin and said, “You live in the prettiest spot,” and I didn’t know how to reply because no one ever said that like they meant it, she started showing up more after that, bumping into me by the saloon or the forest trail, asking questions about foraging and woodwork and one day out of nowhere, she handed me a bunch of wild onions and just said, “Saw these and thought of you,” and I laughed because I hated the smell but I still kept them in a bowl on my table for weeks, dried up and ugly,l but I couldn’t throw them out, Hailey was acting weird too, rolling her eyes when Sage came near but watching her when she thought no one noticed, and honestly it was kind of funny, watching Miss Perfect lose her footing a little, Sage had that effect on people, like a quiet wind that still manages to knock down trees, I found myself thinking about her when I carved I'm, wondering if she’d like the lines of a curve or the bark left raw, and that’s when I knew this was different, it wasn’t just another newcomer trying to play country, this girl… she made me feel seen in a way I hadn’t in years, and I didn’t know what it meant yet, but I knew I wasn’t the only one hoping she’d stay. The start of summer, which no one knew..my favorite season! Most people think it's fall because of my decorations, the scent of autumn leaves... But no. Sage walked into Hailey's house trying to give her a daffodil. I walked by her and whispered not wanting her to hear me, "nice try sage.. Hailey won't budge," she looked at me confused "Oh hi leah!" she said in a charming voice. "Oh i- uh... hi," I said embarrassed. "I was just uh..-" I look around myself. "yes! I was just watering this tree here!"
"uh.. ok..See you later then!" Sage said.
