47 The drive from Stoney Creek to Cherryville had been a challenge due to the first heavy snowstorm of the year, but it was imperative to Madie she be there. She’d been invited to join a Celebration of Life for Tara Crawford that early-December Saturday. They’d made good time on the highway to Vernon, having pulled in behind a snowplough, following its tracks along the freshly ploughed roadway. Heading west on the secondary road through Lavington to Lumby, they stopped for some take-out coffee. This was a slower trek as the snowplough hadn’t cleared the road as yet and Cody’s driving skills were put to good use.
