Chelsea opened her eyes to bright lights. Everything appeared blurry and she blinked a few times to clear her vision. It was like looking through a long tunnel and at the end was a room, and a man in a white coat with a woman in blue scrubs staring at her.
“Hi, Chelsea, I’m Dr Phillips.”
As he came up to the side of the bed, she tried shifting her position and felt pain shoot through her abdomen. In those few seconds, her focus returned and, realizing she was in a hospital room, her hands flew to her stomach. She stared at her flattened belly and was hit with instant panic. “My baby!” Her widened eyes flew to the doctor, who smiled and nodded.
“Congratulations, Chelsea, you have a healthy baby girl. She’s in our MICU unit and doing very well.”
