40 Sergeant Davis stood by the one-way mirror, observing the interview of Douglas Crawford. Present in the interrogation room with Crawford were the detective in charge and Constable Friesen. This was a preliminary interview and Mr Crawford had agreed to come into the office to talk with them. He turned up the intercom and listened to the conversation on the other side of the glass. “We appreciate your coming in, Mr Crawford. Would you like anything? Coffee, water?” Detective Patrova asked. “No thank you. I hope I won’t be here that long; got a busy day ahead,” Crawford said indifferently. “Shouldn’t take long. As you know, your wife’s case has moved from a missing person to a murder investigation. For that reason, we’d like to go over your statement about your wife’s disappearance.” P
