Chapter 12 Cameron had been in the small dark room dozens of times but never on this side of the table. Usually she sat at one of the two empty chairs across the wooden table, but never without the freedom to get up and leave. The walls, once institutional green, were dingier than she remembered, dirty with layers of stale smoke. The windows, painted shut a half dozen times, were covered with mesh, and there was a single light bulb that hung directly overhead, surrounded by a large saucer shaped cage that was dimmed by smoke and dust.
