The next morning, Maggie arrived at the Hagerville City Hospital dressed in brown wool slacks and a cream-colored blouse under her beige wool coat. As Cameron’s “next-of-kin”, she’d been called late yesterday afternoon but not allowed to visit until this morning. As she rode to the eighth floor, she looked at her reflection in the steel wall of the elevator. She wore no make-up and her hair was still a little tousled. She’d been up most of the night, meeting with Deems, trying to decide how to handle this. As she got off the elevator, she saw a uniformed policeman standing near the nurse’s desk.
