“Nine days?” I exclaimed. I looked around at Dominic, hoping that he would correct the doctor. But the look in his eyes told me that wasn’t going to happen. I looked down at the tubes in my hands and then back at the doctor. I saw she had followed my gaze.
“The tubes have been nourishment while you were unconscious, and a sedative and pain relief to help,” she said. “I am happy to remove some of them, but I would like to keep you on pain relief, at least for the next twelve hours.” I nodded as she spoke.
