Chapter 7

We finally arrived home after a long day of shopping and driving home as we ended up getting stuck in the work traffic for a little while, at this point I’m starving as I only had breakfast this morning and Poppy got on a roll shopping that we missed stopping for something to eat. I grabbed my bags and dress box after saying bye to Poppy, I headed towards and up the back stairs to go directly to my room to place everything in the wardrobe, but I decided to keep my dress a secret surprise for on the day, so I left this is the box placing it carefully on the top of the wardrobe. Just as I sat down to take my shoes of to get comfortable on my sofa there was a knock at my door “Come in” I shouted finishing taking my shoes off, I heard the door open, suddenly a smell of roast chicken hit me that made my mouth water and my head snapped up to see Ryder there holding a plate of delicious food. “I come bearing gifts from Flora, she knows you don’t eat while shopping” he said with a smile on his face and a little laugh in his voice. I smile to myself as Flora is very right Poppy gets really focused on shopping that we never have time to eat, “Thank you for being food and yep as always Flora is right.” I say holding my hands out ready for the tray of delicious food to be handed to me.

Ryder passed the tray to me after I got a little more comfortable on my sofa and he sat down in the window seat whilst I started to eat my dinner. “Have you finished your college studies already, I thought you were here just a month ago.” I said in between sticking a roast potato in my mouth and with a slight mocking tone as I swear Ryder spends more time at the castle than at college, but I suppose its pretty easy for him being the top Lycan in his class in all combat training and academic classes. “Yes, I have finished for this term a little earlier than planned as I think it might be someone’s birthday on Saturday, so I requested special permission to do extra classes to allow me to finish in time to celebrate.” He replied looking at me as my mouth was pretty much hanging open in shock as he of all people knows I hate my birthday. “Its not that big a deal I’m only turning 18 and its more the shift I’m thinking about.” I said nonchalantly rolling my eyes at him finishing off the last vegetables and chicken on my plate feeling very stuffed. “It is a big deal due to the fact it’ll be your 1st shift, did you get anything nice for the ball when you went out?” Ryder saying in the tone that can never be argued with, I tried a few times when I was younger but failed miserably as he can argue his way out of a paper bag as Flora puts it.

“I did find something and before you ask no you can’t see it until the day as I want to keep it as a surprise.” I said with a matter of factly hoping, that he won’t argue with me, “fine I’m not going to ask again as long as you promise to save me a dance on Saturday?” He asked me with the little puppy dog eyes when he really wants something, “Ok, one dance.” I agreed getting up of the sofa to take my empty tray back to Flora, as I was leaving, he shouted something about movie night in the cinema room of the castle. I popped my head back through the door and agreed to meet him there in 10 minutes if I get the 1st pick of movie. He agreed to the terms and left my room to meet me there to get the popcorn as well as other tasty treats for the films, as I was walking along to the royal apartments to drop off my tray, I was in a little daydream about Ryder being my mate as he was very attractive. If I was honest with myself, I think I’ve had a crush on him for years since maybe the 1st time of meeting him and he has only got more attractive the older he has gotten. Standing at 6ft 7” he is the tallest in the family and is has a rugged handsome look that is completely different compared to Darius, he has a ripped body with a great six pack that I happened to see when he went to go for a run round the castle one morning, he didn’t see me staring out of my window just watching him running and I swear I nearly started to drool just looking at him.

I finally came out of my daydream just as I got to the apartment door, as I was going to knock on the door, I heard a raised voice which sounded very much like Darius shouting at Julius about something. I quietly opened the door a little bit at a time as not to be disturb the heated conversation but suddenly stopped before entering when I heard the footsteps coming from Julius’ office to the lounge. “Dad, I’m not doing it, I’m staying with her and not giving her up!” Darius shouted at the King, “IF YOU STAY WITH HER THEN YOUR IN FOR A SHOCK!!! YOU NEED YOUR MATE!” Julius shouted at the top of his lungs nearly using the King’s authority voice, that is very similar to an alpha’s command that makes you obey what they say. Julius has only used this twice in his reign as he hates to use it as it can be very painful for the person who is under the authority. “I don’t need my mate! I know who she is and I’m going to reject her this is the end of the discussion!” Darius shouted back at his father to then storm towards the door, I managed to jump out of the way just in time for him to not see me as he walked past.
