After being hunched over a desk for four hours the last thing Cassie wanted was to go sit on a canteen bench and hunch over a meal. She felt like a walk and a hotdog from one of the vendors outside their office building.
She quickly gathered her purse ,her cellphone and got up, blowing the loose tendrils from her face. She realized when she got to work that she forgot to put her wild hair in it usual tight bun or french braid. She did it when it was still wet and manageable. She could only tie it loosely but that left a few curls falling to her face. It irritated to no end.
"Hey Cassie ,make sure you are back in time for the meeting. Your habit of having extra lunch hours is getting on my nerves." Harold Whitman ,her supervisor said as she passed his cubicle.
Cassie rolled her eyes and kept herself from answering back. She and Harold had beef ever since he asked her out and she turned him down. He would not have been so mean to her if she had let him down nicely. But Cassie was having a bad day , she just told him where to shove his balding head. He was a sleaze anyway and used his position to bully girls to date him. Not like she would ever date him. Cassie was more of a wam-bam thank-you sir kinda girl.
Since then he hated her and worked to make her job miserable. As if being a insurance call agent was not miserable enough. People had a lot of hatred when it came to insurance.
Just as her foot hit the pavement outside her building door she felt her shoe sink I something soft and gooey that made goosebumps rush up on her skin. She looked down in disgust.
"Who in the bloody hell throws a banana in the street. There is a bloody f*****g bin five feet from here. Arg fuck." Too pissed off to bother with filtering her mouth. It was just gross.
Cassie started looking around for something or someway to scrap it off.
"Baby are you ok? Don't tell me you stepped into gum again. Shoot today its banana," a manly voice spoke.
Cassie looked up confused as to who the man was talking. She found bright green eyes looking at her with laughter in them. Any day Cassie would have told everybody to go to hell but those eyes rendered her speechless.
"Excuse me?"she asked still confused as to why the man was standing next to her and talking to her.
"Play along," the man whispered. He was slightly taller than her and very attractive, not that she would ever admit out loud. Blonde hair that was neatly cut and combed ,pink, full lips that stretched into a smile when they saw her confused s***h angry stare.
"What the..."
But she was cut off by those lips crushing onto hers.
Cassie was taken aback by the softness and warmth of the lips she forgot herself and actually kissed back.
The kiss lasted all but five seconds but managed to daze her and put her in s mind numbing state.
"Are you ready for our lunch date. I feel like a hotdog and a stroll in the park,"he asked smiling down at her.
The man took her hand , intertwined their fingers and started dragging her along.
Was he mentally challenged or something? Cassie asked herself. Or maybe he thought she was one of those easy girls. Or maybe he just mistook her for someone else.
So many swear words and profanities were swirling in her head. Images of her using her handbag to pummel the man came up but she did not do any of that. She was too bewildered ,she was actually curious about is end game.
When they got to the hotdog stand the man went forward and started ordering. Cassie took another chance to look him up. He was dressed in a fancy dark blue suit and looked like he came from money. He did not look crazy nor like he picked up easy girls. In fact he looked like one of those guys who had fan clubs of girls.
"Here we go Red, I ordered just how I eat mine with mustard and the works with no tomato sauce," the man said handing one of the hotdogs to her.
"The f**k was that." Finally her senses came back and her tongue found itself.
"Oh, I was trying to get rid of a clingy girl who thinks just because my mother liked her I would stick with her," he answered with a shrug.
Cassie felt the rage filling up making her want to strangle the guy.
"So you used me?"
"Umm yes?" his answer came as a question as he saw how angry she was. "I'm sorry Red but you were there and the idea just popped in my mind."
"And you could not find any other f*****g idea that did not include shoving your bloody tongue down my throat."
"I actually did not plan to kiss you that just happened, I can tell you liked it I would definitely not mind doing it again. Maybe take it further," he said with a smirk that he obviously knew was sexy and had girl swoon.
But not her. She was not impressed that easily, no matter how incredibly hot he was.
"Screw you and never ever call me Red," Cassie swore and stomped on his foot. She grabbed the hotdog in his hand and stomped away.
