RYKER
The punch that landed on my cheek a few hours later only elicited laughter from me.
Alexander was a coward, but I hadn't expected him to run away like he didn't see me kissing his ex fake fiance earlier. I had been expecting a full on confrontation right then and there.
Not a f*****g ambush.
"Very stupid of you to sneak into my house and land me a blow when I wasn't expecting it." I hissed, touching my nose, to check for blood. The pain was mid, but burned too.
Alexander glared at me, looking like he was ready to punch me in the face again.
Like I was going to let him.
"You have some nerve going after my woman!" he roared, heaving, but I slid one hand in my pocket, then made a tsk tsk sound while shaking my head.
"But she was never your woman, Alex. If I remember clearly, you had hired her as your fake fiance to show off to grandpa, how responsible you could be." I said easily. "And, for the cherry on top, you were shagging her bestfriend while at it."
Alexander's gaze was thunderous now. "You would never understand. Casey and I_" I didn't let him finish, immediately cutting him off.
"Are none of my business. She is pregnant with your child. You should introduce her to grandfather, and wife her up immediately. We all know Williams Senior would not approve of any off his offsprings being illegitimate."
Alexander moved towards me, but I stood my ground, daring him.
"You bastard!"
"That would make two of us, since we share the same blood, but we are not bastards now, are we?" I was beginning to feel an uncomfortable throbbing in my head.
"Why her? Why her, Ryker? You could have any woma you want on this earth. Why her?!" I could see the redness on his face.
I shrugged. "What do you care? You have lost her. So anyone can have her now. Anyone, including me." I watched as my brother opened his mouth to speak, and then closed it, obviously short of words.
I moved closer so we were only a few inches apart. "I will warn you now, Alexander. Stay away from her. You had your chance, you blew it, so stick to that. If I see you come even ten feet close to her..." I let my voice trail off, not wanting to put to words what I wanted to do to him or anyone who laid even a finger on her.
Alex narrowed his eyes at me. "What? You will what? You can't control her. Gabby has always had a mind of her own, and she belongs to no one."
I chuckled. "Oh yeah? Well, she's mine now. And we are getting married as soon as pissible. How about that?" At his stunned confused expression, I smirked. "And don't do what will make you find out what I can do. I will hate for my little brother to cross me on issues like this." And then I proceeded to move to the door which I pulled open for him. "And next time, don't try to sneak into my house so you won't get mistaken for an intruder and het yourself into trouble."
My little brother looked at me like he wanted to murder me. The feeling was mutual.
As he walked out the door, I called out to him. "And Alex....that was the only time I will be letting you off after hitting me like that." I shut the door, enjoying the sound, Then walked back into the house and straight into my bedroom.
~
Growing up. Alexander and I had always competed for things. Everything.
It was something I had hated, as it had been as a result of our father pitting up against each other all the time. We were two years apart, but that had meant nothing as whoever worked harder for somrthing, always got that thing, regardless of his age.
I had hoped we would outgrow it, but it had never stopped. My spoiled brat of a brother had ingrained it into his head, and made it his life's mission to compete and try to take things from me.
Alexander hadn't been the only person who had been required to marry.
I had been too.
Heck, before that offer had been given to him, I had been hit with it, Years prior. When I was still in high school. But I had declined, rebelled. It was the one thing I had refused to give into.
But once it had been given to Alex, he had hoped to get the upper hand, by obeying.
Too bad, he seeemed not to know the game the family was playing, even years after being at the f*****g frontline.
I popped some pills into my mouth for my headache, and had just swallowed the water to push it down, when my phone rang.
The name on the phone made me smile as I slid my finger accross the scree, answering the call. "Don't tell me you have been thinking of our kiss so much you called me so late in the night to tell me you wanted more." I teased, knowing fully well I was getting on her nerves. And hoped for the life of me, it worked.
Gabriella made a sound on the other end, before cursing in a tone so low, I almost did not hear it. "You had no right to kiss me like that, earlier. I demand and apology."
I almost rolled my eyes at her, then remembered she wasn't close. "Rich, coming from someone who slipped her fingers into my hair and clung to me like I was the bane of her very existence." I could still remember how soft her lips were, and how sweet they tasted. If only we hadn't been in a damn hospital, I am sure I would have done more than kiss her. Heck the feel of her fingers, as she tugged on my hair.. It had been all I had been thinking about all day. And it was what I had been thinking about when I had run blindly into Alexander's fist earlier.
"You_You_Just know that I hate you, Ryker." she hissed.
I scoffed. "As you should, Love doesn't exist anyways."
"It does, but it can never for people like you." what did she mean by people like me?
I was about to ask what she meant, but changed my mind, not wanting to talk about anything that concerned love. "If you did not call to talk about the kiss, then why did you call?" I asked.
She took a moment before answering me. "I called for us to talk about our arrangement." My eyes darted to the clock and I forwned.
"By this time?" I asked, feeling the throbbing in my head increase. That drug was taking it's sweet time kicking in. "You know what, why don't you come over to my house, and we could talk about this properly?"
A deep sigh came from the other end of the phone. "Fine."
"I'll send my driver to come pick you." then for effect, I added. "Dream of me, sweet thing!"
I laughed when she cursed at me, then hung up.
The last thing I remembered as darkness enveloped me, was my fingers tingling, and the bed becoming so close to my damn face.
