Mark woke up on the ground, feeling lightheaded and disorientated. He sat himself up and looked around. He was in the clearing not far from the packhouse. Good, then he didn't have to run so far to get back home. He looked down on his body covered with dirt, mudd, and some blood and sighed loudly. He had no memories of the nights run. He never did. At the age of 22, you might think that he and his wolf would be enjoying their life as Alpha of a great pack, but that was far from the truth. He had never felt his wolf, never communicated with him, and never felt the power of being one with his wolf. He was cursed. Cursed by some witches to never be whole, never be a true werewolf. He was not alone, his whole family were cursed. His father with a broken spine never able to shift again, his mother blinded and his brother and sister weak and catching every little cold coming thier way, it felt like they were always sick, spending more time at the packs hospital then at home. They still hadn't shifted, they were twins at the age of 12 but he feared what would happen when the day came for thier first shift. And then it was Jason, his younger brother, only a year between them, that on his 18th birthday had his first and only shift. He didn't make it, the shift had killed his brother leaving his family and pack with deep gaping holes in thier hearts. Jason had been like a bright light always spreading humour and love wherever he went. So to say that the past 3 years had been feeling empty was an understatement. Mark hated the Silvermoon pack, they had started a war and when they realised they were about to lose they had made a deal with witches that had cost Mark, his family and thier pack great loses. So many had died, been hurt or lost their minds. The old beta of his father had turned on them and challenged his father for the alpha title. His father had held his ground but broke his spine in the fight. The pack and the land had been divided in two. The Beta was now an Alpha of his own, but just as Marks father the traitor was injured in the fight so no real winner could be declared. So the packmembers declared thier allaigence to the Alpha of thier own choosing. Mark and his family got to keep thier pack house and the land with border to the Silvermoon, but they lost the town and fields to the south. So the hate that Mark feelt for Silvermoon pack was deep and fuled everytime he woke up from one of his wolfs runs. He had also shifted at 18 like his brother but survived, and even though he couldn't connect or communicate with his wolf his father handed over the alpha title to his son. The pack needed a wolf that could shift to help protect them and guide them. And Mark did his best, but they had lost members to the Crecent moon pack, the name the traitor gave his new pack after the fight with his father, they lost them due to the fact that no one could communicate with him when he was in his wolf form and people were scared of him and what he could do. He had been told that his wolf was big and completely black and radiated anger and snapped at everyone that came to close. They saw his wolf as a beast quick to lash out and hard to predict. Normally wolfs could communicate through the mindlink and the personality of the wolf and the man melted togheter creating harmony. But in his case his wolf was a beast, with no way to communicate with his pack other then with snarls, howling and show of strength. But what made his packmembers fear him also made the enemy fear him so they stayed away and his pack had not received any problems for the last 3 years. Not after Mark shifted into his wolf when the Crecent moon packs Beta tried to take advantage of Marks new position as Alpha and the lost they all felt after Jason. The Beta tried to kidnap Marks little sister, in an attempt to force the young Alpha to surrender to the Crecent moon. But it turned out to be a deadly misstake. Mark had been told that his wolf had gone ballistic and turned the Beta into a pile of flesh and bone. Not showing any mercy and hunting down the wolfs that the Beta had brought with him, people that once before was a part of his pack, pepole he had grown up with. It had been a bloody mess to clean up but it sent the message to any wolf thinking of attacking the Darkmoon pack, the Alpha was not to play with.
Mark stod up from the ground and started to walk back to the house. He could smell the blood from rabbits on his body and knew his wolf had gone hunting. He needed a shower and clean clothes before he could adress the pack business for the day. Even though they have lost half the pack and lands Marks father was a brilliant business man and he had passed that on to Mark. They had invested well and were wealthier then anyone could understand. But wealth is not the way to lead a pack of wolf, strength and stability was. Money helped a lot but the fear of an irrational and unstable Alpha made werewolfs stay away and even leaving thier pack. Marks goal was to create stability and show his pack that even if he couldn't connect to his wolf he could still lead and keep them safe. He took a quick shower and went down to the office where is best friend and Beta was waiting for him. "Took you sometime to get back today, didn't Wolf want to give back the control?" Ben laughed and gave a cocky smile. He knew his Alpha would tolerate it, they had been friends from the cribs, thier mothers being best friends and all. Mark shook his head. "No I guess he wanted to hunt rabbits by the smell of it. Anything happened while I was away?" Mark sat down behind the desk and Ben turn the chair he was sitting on towards Mark. "No, it was a calm run, and everyone is back safely. You missed the feast and Bellas home made bread but other then that. Calm and smooth." The mention of Bellas bread made his stomach growl and Mark realised he was hungry, his wolf may have hunted and eaten during the night but the energy of shifting made the need for food big to say the least. He pressed the number to the kitchen on the intercom and politely ask the kitchen staff to bring him a plate of food from the left overs from the feast. When he had realise how the curse had affected him the first thing he had done was so install an intercom in the packhouse and bought a cellphone to every member of the pack. If he couldn't use mind link to communicate then he needed an option. "There is some news that you should know. It doesn't involve any of our pack members, but Silvermoons." Ben stoped and looked at his friend waiting to see if his anger would take over by the mentioning of Silvermoon. When Mark didn't react Ben continued. "The younger of Alpha Bryan's nieces shifted this morning." Mark didn't seem to react but he was boling inside, anger and jealousy swept through his body over the fact that one more member of that disgusting family had connected to thier wolf. He slowly got to his feet and walk over to the door leading to the garden directly from the office. Once opened he said to Ben without Turing around "Don't follow me". And then he shifted, ripping his cloths and the big black wolf jumped out through the doors and disappeared.
