*DRAYTON*
Really? I furrowed my brow, staring at my nephew in silence. Is he being serious right now? Did he just say to my face that one of us is going to die?
He cannot protect the woman he's married to, but still, he doesn't want her to be with someone else. If that's not being selfish then I don't know what else it is.
Not like he'd be able to kill me anyway. If anyone were to die when we get into a fight, it would be him and not me. But I'd be damned to kill my older brother's son. Elias might be dead but I promised to look after his son on his deathbed.
Sighing, I said in the calmest tone I could mutter. "Dorian, you are clearly not treating her right. You are not the right man for her."
"And you think you are?" He fired back. "You think you can just pop out of nowhere and steal my woman?" I watched him ball his hand into a fist, "don't f*****g test my patience, Uncle."
"But I want to leave with him!" Elysia protested. "Just let me go with him, Dorian. I already asked for a divorce anyway."
"What?" Dorian scoffed. "Are you in your right senses, Elysia? No no no... are you insane? We have been married for nine months now. You just lost my baby and you are meant to be comforting me for being incompetent enough to become a mother. Yet, you are still yapping about a divorce?"
My stomach churned in disbelief at the kind of statement Dorian made. How could he say this to his wife when he was clearly the one who messed her up? And Elysia wasn't taking it lightly either.
Her voice raised an octave. "You must be the most senseless man alive! Did you just say I'm incompetent enough to become a mother? You hit me, Dorian. I caught you f*****g one of your whores and you decided to hit me for asking for a divorce."
"I have every right to hit you," Dorian roared back at her. "You entered into my study without knocking. You invaded my privacy."
Still standing in silence and watching the whole scenario unfold in front of me, I was already making up my mind to make sure Elysia left with me once I was about to leave this Pack.
"I came to your study to give you the news about my pregnancy. You didn't even permit me to speak before you had your hand around my neck, almost choking me. You know what, Dorian? As I said days back, I'm still going to repeat it. I want a divorce."
"No, Elysia." Dorian objected. "I would not grant you a divorce."
"Why?"
"Because you are my wife!"
"But I don't want to be married to you anymore. You are a monster!"
He made to charge at her but I stepped in the way, obstructing him from doing so. So he scowled at me instead. "This is an issue between a husband and his wife, step aside Uncle."
I remained exactly where I stood, unmoving. And that seemed to infuriate Dorian. He immediately scratched the base of my neck with his claws.
Cocking my head to the side and trying my best to suppress the rage starting to surge within me, I pressed my fingers against the scratched wounds and brought them to my view only to see my blood tainted on them.
My eyes left my fingers to Dorian's face and he instantly began to mumble. "Uncle, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—"
I balled my fist and punched him hard in the face before he could complete his stupid apology.
"Ugh! f**k!" He groaned as he staggered backward with his hand on his nose. "But I said I'm sorry!"
"You have been acting way out of line, Dorian. I am not cut out for any of your bullshit anymore. I'm taking Elysia with me and it's final."
Dorian dropped his hand from his almost-healed nose and then glared at me. "Screw the apology. You are definitely going mad, Uncle."
"Why don't you test me to see?" I urged him.
In no time, Dorian came at me. And perhaps, that would be the worst mistake of his life because I won't let him be unscathed. So we broke into a fight.
He went all feral on me, summoning his Lycan as he took multiple swipes at me with his claws. Meanwhile, I couldn't bear to summon my Lycan because I knew what that meant. Once my Lycan surface at his full potential, Dorian would become a big pile of beef jerky.
Trying my best not to hurt him as much as I would like to, I kept swerving out of his way as he charged at me over and over again.
"Please stop fighting," Elysia begged. "Please you are going to end up hurting each other."
The desperation in her voice made me want to stop but then again, Dorian needed to be taught a lesson. He thinks because he got everything on a platter of gold, he could act however he deemed fit.
As he charged at me, I wasted no time in grabbing both of his arms then I flung him across the room.
"Oh f**k f**k!" he cussed as his back collided with the wall and he fell face flat on the ground.
"Trust me, I don't want to hurt you, Dorian," I stated as a matter of fact.
"You are a f*****g piece of s**t! I hate the fact that we are related." He spat back at me and although I was meant to get mad at his remark, I just laughed it off and said.
"I hate the fact that I let you get away with a lot of things and now, you have become a good for nothing."
Springing up to his feet, he glared at me murderously. I was ready for his attack but shockingly, he went after Elysia who cowered in fear on the bed. "You dirty bitch... you are the reason for—"
Just as he was about to pounce on her, I swiftly dragged him back and then delivered a punch to his guts. He groaned in pain and before he could recover, I delivered another then another and another.
Sparing Elysia a glance to know if she was okay, she raised her head to look at me at that same moment and it felt as though something struck my heart. There was something about this woman. Something strange made me want to wrap my arms around her and tell her just how beautiful and worthy she was. Not just because she turned out to be my mate.
"Please don't kill him." She said through the mind link.
"I won't. Now leave the ward to avoid being attacked by him again."
Nodding, she immediately scrambled off the bed and ran out of the ward. So I directed all my attention to Dorian.
A tiny stream of blood trickled down the corner of his mouth as he straightened his posture. He swayed back and forth for a split second then stood upright. "You must be basking in the fact that you are more powerful than me right?"
I shrugged. "I guess six years of age difference is enough to wield more power."
"You are not taking Elysia from me. I'm going to kill you, Drayton."
Again, he lunged forward to attack me. He was so fast this time that he used his legs to kick mine, knocking me off the ground. I fell on my back with a loud thud and pain shot through my backbones then he climbed on me and began to maliciously scratch my chest with his claws.
His attack had me bleeding and feeling excruciating pain. Nonetheless, I summoned my strength and pushed him off me. Realizing that Dorian intends to kill me, I decided to let go of my calm act and go on feral on him without summoning my Lycan.
Before he could regain his composure, I pinned him down to the ground and began to deliver deadly punches to his face.
My balled fist unremorsefully landed everywhere on his face while he tried so hard to push me off but couldn't.
I raised my fist one last time to issue him a deadly punch that could send him into a coma, but then a voice boomed in the atmosphere, halting my motion halfway.
"Stop!"
My balled fist trembled as I battled with my conflicted mind. If the voice didn't belong to the one person I respect a lot, perhaps Dorian's face would be as worse as that of a mashed potato.
Darting my eyes from Dorian to Elder Tobias who was standing at the door with two other elders and Elysia behind them, I took in deep, calming breaths.
If this man wasn't the one who practically raised me and my deceased brother like a father. If he wasn't the one that made me come this far, maybe......just maybe I wouldn't have backed down. But then I gritted my teeth and brought down my hand to my side.
“Why are you fighting with your nephew, Drayton? You've been away for two years only to return and get into a fight with him?” Queried Elder Brian, who was also standing beside Elder Tobias.
“They have always been so inseparable, I wonder what led to this.” Elder Armstrong chipped in.
“Maybe you should all ask my unreasonable Uncle why he wants to take my wife away from me.” Dorian spat with anger in his tone.
The three of them spared me a confused look. “What exactly is this about, Drayton?” Elder Tobias asked this time.
“I have decided to take Elysia with me.”
“But she is Dorian’s wife.” Elder Tobias reminded and I nodded.
“Yes, but he hasn't been treating her right. And—”
“And nothing.” Elder Brian interjected. “Why would you want to take his wife away from —”
Not wanting to hear more of their endless questions, I said outrightly. “Because she's my mate!”
