Laurie, the fitting room assistant flashed me the fakest smile I had ever seen in my entire life and then had the freaking audacity to lie through the teeth. “I said the dress on you looks basic. Time to try a new one, it would be worth it.”
I feigned a smile. “Really?”
She had the guts to nod. “Really.”
My smile dropped as I faced her in all seriousness. “Do you think I'm stupid? Have you forgotten my abilities are heightened?”
“That is what I said, Lady Elysia.” She lied again, a little bit convincing this time.
The smile had disappeared from her face and she was trying so hard to play a game of facade on me. She was hoping I wouldn't hear or perhaps react to her snide remarks, but I have made a resolution within myself to start standing up for myself from now on.
