I opened my eyes, gradually rolling them around to register my surroundings.
It was the breaking of dawn. Birds chirped on nearby trees, a cold breeze kissed my face, and the gentle sound of waves crashing against the shore of an ocean resonated in the air. However, there was nothing gentle about the rhythm of my heart.
Where am I?
With my face tilted towards the indigo sky infiltrated by pink and orange hues, and announcing that the sun was about to set soon, I frowned in confusion.
What am I doing here?
Just as I made to move, a sharp pain shot through my right leg and I winced, letting out a disturbed whimper.
