I met a strange creature

2674 Words
It was a warm summer night, and I had decided to take a walk to clear my head. As I strolled through the quiet streets, I noticed a figure in the distance. It was walking towards me, and as it got closer, I could see that it was not human. The creature was tall, at least eight feet, and its skin was a pale, sickly white. Its eyes were large and black, and they seemed to glow in the darkness. It had no hair, and its face was twisted into a snarl that revealed sharp, jagged teeth. I froze, unsure of what to do. The creature let out a low growl, and I could feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I tried to back away, but it stepped towards me, closing the gap. It was then that I noticed the smell. It was a putrid, rotting smell that made my eyes water. The creature continued to growl, and I could feel its hot breath on my face. Suddenly, there was a loud crash behind me. I turned to see that the creature had knocked over a garbage can, and my parents had come out of the house to investigate. My father stepped forward, trying to protect us. But the creature was too quick. It lunged forward, grabbing my father by the throat and throwing him to the ground. My mother screamed, and I knew that I had to act. I kicked the creature as hard as I could, sending it stumbling back. It let out a furious roar and turned to run away. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I watched it disappear into the night. My mother was sobbing, and my father was gasping for breath. We called the police, but they didn't believe us. They said that it was probably just a wild animal. But I knew that it was something more. Something otherworldly. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and I started to research what it could have been. I found stories of similar creatures, and the more I read, the more terrified I became. Weeks went by, and I tried to convince myself that it was all just a dream. But I couldn't shake the feeling that it was real. Then, one night, I heard the growling again. I went to the window and saw the creature standing in the yard. It was staring right at me, and I knew that it had come back for revenge. I tried to call for help, but my voice was stuck in my throat. The creature started to move towards the house, and I knew that I had to act fast. I grabbed a baseball bat and ran outside, ready to defend myself. But when I got there, the creature was gone. There was no trace of it, and I was left standing alone in the darkness. Years have passed since that night, but I still have nightmares about the creature. I can still feel its hot breath on my face, and I can still hear the sound of its growling. I don't know what it was or where it came from, but I know that it was real. And I know that it's still out there, waiting for me. Despite my fear, I refused to let the creature control my life. I started to take self-defense classes and made sure to always carry some kind of weapon with me. I was determined to be ready if the creature ever came back. Years went by, and I eventually moved away to college. I tried to put the creature out of my mind, but it was always lurking in the back of my thoughts. Every time I heard a strange noise at night, my mind would race with possibilities. One night, I was studying in my dorm room when I heard a low growling outside my window. My heart started pounding, and I felt my palms get sweaty. I tried to tell myself that it was just a stray dog or a raccoon, but deep down, I knew better. I slowly made my way to the window and peeked outside. To my horror, I saw the creature standing there, staring right at me with its glowing black eyes. It was the same creature that had attacked my parents all those years ago. I froze, unsure of what to do. The creature started to move towards the window, and I knew that I had to act fast. I grabbed my baseball bat and swung it with all my might, hitting the creature square in the face. It let out an ear-piercing screech and stumbled back, giving me just enough time to slam the window shut and lock it. I could hear the creature scratching and clawing at the glass, trying to get in. I didn't know what to do. I was trapped in my dorm room with a monster outside, and I had no idea how to fight it off. I started to panic, and I could feel tears streaming down my face. Just when I thought it was all over, I heard a loud knock at my door. It was campus security, responding to a noise complaint. I quickly opened the door and explained the situation to them. At first, they didn't believe me. But when they saw the scratches on the window and the blood on my bat, they knew something was wrong. They called the police, and together, we searched the area. But there was no sign of the creature. It had disappeared once again, leaving me with nothing but my fear and my memories. Years have passed since that night, and I've tried to move on. I've never seen the creature again, but I still have nightmares about it. I know that it's out there somewhere, waiting for its next victim. But I'm not going to let it win. I'm going to keep fighting, keep pushing forward, and keep living my life. I won't let the creature control me anymore. As I grew older, I became obsessed with trying to find out more about the creature that had haunted me for so long. I spent hours researching online, looking for any information or sightings of similar creatures. It wasn't until I stumbled upon an old, out-of-print book at a used bookstore that I finally found some answers. The book was called "The Shadow Beasts: Myths and Legends," and it contained stories from all around the world about creatures similar to the one I had encountered. According to the book, these creatures were called Shadow Beasts, and they were said to be ancient, supernatural beings that lived in the darkness. They were known for their glowing black eyes, sharp claws, and incredible strength. The book also mentioned that there were certain rituals and spells that could be used to protect oneself from these creatures. I was desperate to try anything that could help me feel safe again, so I began to research these rituals and spells in more detail. After weeks of studying, I finally found a ritual that seemed promising. It involved drawing a protective circle around oneself using a special kind of chalk and reciting a series of incantations. I was skeptical, but I was willing to try anything. Late one night, I went to a quiet, secluded spot in the woods and began to draw the circle. It wasn't easy - the chalk was difficult to work with, and I was constantly worried that I was doing something wrong. But eventually, the circle was complete. I stood inside it, feeling a sense of protection and safety that I hadn't felt in years. I began to recite the incantations, feeling the power of the words coursing through me. Suddenly, I heard a low growling sound coming from outside the circle. I looked up, and to my horror, I saw the creature standing just beyond the edge of the circle. It stared at me with its glowing black eyes, and I could feel its hatred and hunger radiating toward me. I knew that I was in grave danger. But then, something strange happened. The creature began to shrink and twist, its form becoming distorted and twisted. It let out a terrible scream, and then it was gone, vanishing into thin air. I was left standing there, alone in the woods, feeling a sense of relief and disbelief wash over me. Had the ritual actually worked? Had I finally managed to banish the creature that had haunted me for so long? I may never know for sure, but I do know one thing - I'm no longer afraid. I've faced my fears head-on, and I've come out stronger on the other side. The Shadow Beast may still exist out there, but I know that I have the power to protect myself from it. And as I walk away from the woods, I feel a sense of freedom and hope that I haven't felt in years. The future is uncertain, but I know that I'm ready to face whatever comes my way. But my newfound confidence and sense of security were short-lived. Just a few days after the ritual, strange things started happening around me. At first, it was just small things - objects moving on their own, strange noises coming from empty rooms. But as time went on, the occurrences became more and more frequent and intense. I tried to ignore it, thinking that maybe it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. But one night, I woke up to find the Shadow Beast standing at the foot of my bed. It was different this time - instead of its usual angry and aggressive demeanor, it was eerily calm. It just stood there, watching me with its glowing black eyes. For a few moments, neither of us moved or spoke. I was frozen with fear, not knowing what to do. But then, the creature began to speak. "Did you really think that a silly little circle and some words would be enough to protect you from me?" it hissed, its voice low and menacing. I was too terrified to speak, but the creature continued on. "You may have banished me from your sight, but you can never truly banish me from your mind. I am a part of you now, and I will always be with you." With that, the Shadow Beast vanished, leaving me alone and shaking in my bed. From that night on, the occurrences became even more frequent and intense. I started to see the creature everywhere I went - in my dreams, in the shadows, even in broad daylight. I tried to seek help, but no one believed me. They thought I was crazy or delusional. I was completely alone, with no one to turn to. And then, one day, I received a strange package in the mail. It contained a small, intricately carved wooden box and a note that simply read: "Open at your own risk." I knew I shouldn't open it, but something about it called me. I couldn't resist. As soon as I opened the box, I knew that I had made a terrible mistake. Inside was a small, black stone with a strange symbol etched into it. As soon as I touched it, I felt a surge of energy coursing through me. I don't remember much after that. All I know is that I woke up in a dark, cold place with no memory of how I got there. And as I looked around, I realized with horror that I was surrounded by Shadow Beasts, all of them staring at me with their glowing black eyes. And that's where I am now - trapped in this cold, dark place with no hope of escape. The Shadow Beasts have claimed me as their own, and I can feel their cold, hungry eyes on me at all times. I don't know what will become of me, but I know one thing for sure - the Shadow Beasts are not to be trifled with. And if you ever encounter one, remember my story and take heed. Because once they've set their sights on you, there's no escaping their grasp. I don't know how long I've been here, but it feels like an eternity. The Shadow Beasts never seem to tire of tormenting me, and their methods of t*****e are endless. They show me my worst fears, they haunt my dreams, and they make me relive every painful memory I've ever had. But even in the midst of my suffering, I can't help but feel a strange sense of fascination with these creatures. There's something otherworldly about them, something that I can't quite put my finger on. And as much as I hate them, I'm also drawn to them, almost like a moth to a flame. One day, as I lay in the darkness, I heard a sound - a low, rumbling growl that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. At first, I thought it was just another one of the Shadow Beasts' tricks, but then the ground began to shake. The Shadow Beasts looked around nervously, their glowing eyes wide with fear. For the first time since I've been here, I felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe something was coming to save me, to vanquish these monsters once and for all. And then, out of the darkness, emerged a creature like nothing I'd ever seen before. It was huge, with scales the color of midnight and eyes that glowed like the sun. It let out a deafening roar that shook the very foundations of the cavern, and the Shadow Beasts scattered like leaves in the wind. The creature turned its gaze on me, and I felt a surge of fear and awe. But as it approached me, I realized it wasn't here to harm me. It spoke to me in a language I couldn't understand, but its tone was gentle and soothing. It reached out a massive clawed hand and touched my forehead, and I felt a surge of warmth and light fill my body. At that moment, I knew that I was free. The Shadow Beasts had been banished, and I was no longer their prisoner. I looked up at the creature, and it nodded its massive head before disappearing back into the darkness. I don't know where I am now, but I know that I'm free. And as I walk through the darkness, I can't help but wonder - was this creature a friend or a foe? Was it here to save me, or was it just another creature like the Shadow Beasts? I may never know the answer, but one thing is for sure - I'll never forget the horrors I've faced, and I'll never underestimate the power of the supernatural again. As I opened my eyes, I realized that it was all just a nightmare. The Shadow Beasts, the cavern, the mysterious creature - they were all just figments of my imagination. Relieved that it wasn't real, I took a deep breath and tried to shake off the feeling of terror that still lingered. It was just a dream, I told myself, and it couldn't hurt me. As I got out of bed and went about my day, I couldn't help but think about the nightmare. It had felt so real, so vivid, that it was hard to believe it was all in my head. But as the day wore on, I began to feel more and more like myself. I laughed with friends, worked on projects, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. And as the night fell, I knew that the nightmare was truly behind me. It may have been a terrifying experience, but I was grateful that it wasn't real. And I knew that no matter what nightmares I faced in the future, I could always wake up and know that they were just illusions.
