I MADE MY WAY INTO the hallway. The top floor of the house seemed empty, but I heard plenty of commotion below me. When I came around the corner, the hall opened into a giant atrium revealing the lower levels. Below me, two dozen hooded figures stood in a circle drawn in blood. In the center of the circle was a familiar pentagram, along with some runes I didn’t quite recognize. Different monsters had unique conjuring runes and it was impossible to remember every single one. I knew they weren’t summoning a demon, or a dragon, but with over a hundred different runes combining to call forth a thousand different monsters from Hell, I could never keep them straight. “Ah, Julia of the Freeman Clan,” a voice said, wafting upwards. “So nice of you to join us.” I was found out.
