Chapter 18
We reappeared underneath the portal that would return us back to Earth. It swirled above us like a blood red whirlpool, dozens of feet in the air. I held Kimberly’s hand as tightly as Akta held mine. I let go of both and turned to Akta with a big smile.
“Thank you, for everything,” I said, wrapping my arms around her neck.
She was clearly uncomfortable, but I didn’t care. I was so grateful to her, and the only way I could express my gratitude was by giving her a hug. “One day I will get you out of Hell. I swear it.”
Akta pushed me away from her. “Don’t make such promises. Grab the child. I will fly you as close as I can to the portal before the weight of Velaska’s curse pulls me back to Hell.”
