A Glimpse of the Past
Ava Nwankwo's fingers flew across the keyboard as she finalized the details for the upcoming wedding expo. Her event planning company, "Ava's Events," had become a go-to for high-end weddings in Lagos. As she clicked "send" on the email, a sense of satisfaction washed over her. This was her domain, where she was in control.
But as she leaned back in her chair, her mind began to wander. Memories she'd kept locked away for years started to resurface. Memories of Ryan, the boy who had captured her heart in high school. The boy who had promised forever but hadn't been able to stay.
Ava's phone buzzed, breaking the spell. It was her best friend, Ada, calling to remind her about their lunch plans. Ava smiled, grateful for the distraction. She needed to focus on the present, not the past.
As she headed out to meet Ada, Ava's thoughts drifted back to Ryan. What would have happened if he had stayed? If they had worked through their issues? The what-ifs still lingered, even after all these years.
At the restaurant, Ada noticed Ava's distant expression. "Hey, what's going on?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Ava hesitated, unsure how much to share. But Ada's kind eyes encouraged her to open up. "I was just thinking about Ryan," Ava admitted.
Ada's expression softened. "Oh, Ava. You're still thinking about him after all these years?"
Ava nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. "I don't know, Ada. It's just...life has been good, but sometimes I wonder what could have been."
Ada reached out and took Ava's hand. "You deserve happiness, Ava. And if that means rekindling old flames or finding new ones, you should be open to it."
Ava smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude toward her friend. Maybe it was time to confront her past and see where it would lead.
