Chapter 17

Glynn's P.O.V.

Today Kelly, Henry and I would be going to look at the project in East Texas. I was a bundle of nerves because I wasn't sure how Kelly was going to act around Henry and I .

I knew Henry was interested with her, I saw how many times a day he went into her office to see her. We decided to meet downstairs before work hours so I walked in with a more causal outfit, rather than my normal business suit. Henry was sitting in a chair talking to Kelly cozily as I walked up to them. “Ehemm Mr. Caldwell, Miss Miller we ready to go?” I stared down at them as Kelly smiled and Henry nodded at me. I escorted them outside to the Escalade I rented for a few days. Henry helped me with the luggage and we were on our way.

It was silent most of the way except for the light music in the background. I tapped my finger on the steering wheel, as I tried to think of something to do to break the silence. I went to go ask Kelly something but looked and saw she had fallen asleep. Henry was busy on his phone next to me. So I decided to stop off at a nearby coffee shop before we would be miles from nowhere . “ Kelly’s asleep” I said to Henry. He turned back around and smirked, “ I’ll go get our drinks, I know what she likes to drink ” He said as I just sat there wondering how he knew her coffee order. I decided to get in the back seat with her, I couldn’t resist her perfect lips, I had to have a taste as I knew my time was limited before Henry came back.

Kelly’s P.O.V

I was walking through the tall grass as it opened up to the secluded spot belonging to my mother and I. I went and sat on the lone rock that overlooked the pond, as I turned around I saw a Jeep parking nearby. I stood up and saw Glynn get out with a picnic basket. I yelled for him to come over but he couldn’t hear me. I ran to him and he finally looked me in the eyes, “ I heard you Darling, I just wanted you to come here and kiss me” he said with his beautiful smile. I laughed at him, while shaking my head. He leaned down and captured my lips and it felt so real. I felt myself become wet and what I hoped to come next, then I moaned as he owned my mouth. I felt something on my lips and I awoke. Glynn was really kissing me, “ What are you doing? Henry will see you!” I exclaimed as I couldn’t believe how real that dream felt. He smirked at me and caressed my face, “ Darling, I can’t help myself when I’m around you” he said breathlessly as I just shook my head. “ I know but this isn’t the time or place” I said as I watched Henry walking back to the vehicle. He opened the door and we both looked at him, “ Did you sleep well Kelly?” He asked me sweetly. “ Yes thank you” as he handed me my latte. He handed Glynn his espresso and Glynn moved away from me and back into the driver’s seat. He glanced back at me through the mirror and winked at me, I don’t know how I’m going to survive the next few days.

We finally arrived at Bradley Harris’s house and it was just the same as it always was. Glynn and Henry helped me get my things out of the Escalade and we got our rooms situated. Glynn insisted that I sleep in the room next to his while Henry took the room down the hall. I was unpacking when I heard a knock on the door,” You ready to go meet with the EPA inspector ?” He asked leaning up against the doorway. “ As ready as I’ll ever be “ as I shrugged my shoulders and followed him downstairs.

We left and went to my mother’s favorite spot, as we drove up I felt a tear fall from my eye. It broke my heart to see the dozers and cranes ready to destroy the best memories I had of my mother. I followed behind Glynn and Henry as we watched a couple of guys come from the edge of the woods, walking towards us. “ Mr. Worthington, so nice of you to join us” said the tall dark haired man who could pass for Ryan Reynolds look alike. He had a carefree attitude but yet meant business. “ Dr Scott, good to see you as always” Glynn said as he introduced Henry then turned to me. “ This is our new CPA and hometown girl, Kelly Miller” he smiled at me as Dr. Scott took my hand and kissed the top of it. “ What a pleasure to meet you Kelly” “ Nice to meet you as well.” I blushed as Glynn just looked at me.

Glynn’s P.O.V

I watched as Dr. Scott roamed his eyes all over Kelly’s body and it disturbed me to see her reciprocate his looks. I was not about to have another person look at her that way. I grabbed her hand as he was looking at her and she just looked at me with a surprised expression, “ So this area over here if you will follow me has been an issue of concern for my dear Miss Miller. Is there anyway to find out if we could keep this area blocked off for say, “ a wildlife sanctuary? “ “ as I knew this was my moment. If the EPA approves my idea, then I would both be saving Kelly and my brother from wringing my neck. Dr Scott smirked at me and motioned for us to follow, “ If I can determine that this lake must be sustainable to the local wildlife, then yes I will write it in the contract. You must let me know what area specifically and how many acres so I can do some further investigating.” He smiled at Kelly as I still held her hand. “ It was a pleasure Miss Miller” as he grabbed her other hand and kissed the top of it. She blushed, “ You too, Dr . Scott. You should come and join us for a small get together tonight. “ That would be lovely , here’s my business card with my cell phone, call me with the details.” As I watched him walk back to the other contractors. I turned to Kelly, “What was that all about? And what get together?” I said lowly trying to keep my temper in check.” Oh, I talked to Mac and he is going to let us use his barn down the road from his bar. I’ve got it all taken care of, you just need to show up.” She said with a sass. “ Oh I’ll show up all right” as I quickly followed her back to the Escalade where Henry was standing waiting for us. “ So what’s the plan now sir?” He said as I glanced at Kelly. “ Time for some lunch then getting ready for a party” she winked at me as Henry looked at me dumbfounded. “ I’ll tell you later” as we all got into the SUV and left.

Kelly’s P.O.V.

I smirked on our way to Macs place for lunch , I was amused by what Glynn had said to Dr. Scott. Was he really sincere about keeping his end of the deal? Would he really section off that place for a sanctuary? I wanted to believe it was true but wasn’t sure as I didn’t know all the legalities that went along with it. I text Dr. Scott the time and directions and he replied with “ Can’t wait to see you” as I just smiled to myself. “ Something amusing Miss Miller?” Glynn said to me. “ No, nothing at all” as we pulled up to the Bar. We walked in and Ginger embraced me, “ When can you come back? This new bartender is not up to speed on how we run things and I need you” she laughed as I just embraced her. “ Well unless he fires me, then I guess your just going to have to deal with it” as Glynn walked up and grabbed ahold of my waist being possessive. “ Not a chance” as he held ahold of me and Ginger led us to a bar table top. Henry looked back and forth between us and nodded. As we sat down, Ginger got our drink orders and we talked about the the different foods on the menu. “ I’ll be right back, going to the restroom “ as his hand grazed mine and Henry turned to me. “ So you and Mr. Worthington huh?” He smirked at me. I took a sip of sweet tea, “ ehh not really, I mean he and I did date but we couldn’t come to terms to some things” as I watched Glynn walk back out towards us. “ Well as far as I’m concerned, he is showing everyone that your off limits.” He said as he drank his water and Glynn sat back down. I smiled at the thought, tonight was going to be a lot of fun.
