Chapter 6

Kelly's P.O.V

I had more to say, I wanted to scream from the patio about how he couldn't destroy the one thing that kept my memories alive of my mother. I know of a few others who enjoy going out to that secret lake, but we are all respectful of the people and property. I knew it was time for me to go, he seemed like a genuine guy but I knew he probably had ulterior motives and I couldn't allow myself to be taken advantage of. " Thank you for all of this, it was sweet of you but I probably should be getting back to my Jeep." " Are you sure?" He asked me. " Yes" " Well, it's already 2am, how about you stay in the guest bedroom, I promise I won't bother you. Then in the morning I can make you breakfast and then take you to your Jeep." he said standing up and offering me his hand. " I'm going to hold you to the breakfast offer" I smiled at him as he held my hand and led me to the guest bedroom that was downstairs. " Everything should be in there, if you need anything I'll be upstairs " as he brought my hand up to his lips and kissed it gently. " goodnight kelly" he said with a deeper sound to his throat and it clenched something within me and it startled me. " Goodnight " I whispered as he looked at me and then closed the door.

I found a t-shirt in one of the dressers and changed while finding a new toothbrush and other toiletries. I quickly got ready for bed and turned off the light, as I laid down into the soft bed and fell fast asleep.

I awoke to the smell of something wonderful coming from the kitchen. I quickly put my jean shorts back on and walked in with my hair up on top of my head. As I peeked around the kitchen, I watched as Glynn who was shirtless was cooking something over the stove. I didn't want to startle him, so I just watched as his strong back muscles flexed as he flipped something in the pan. He had his airpods in, so he couldn't hear me as I sat down at the bar. " Good Morning Kelly" he said as he turned around and smiled at me sweetly. I blushed in embarrassment, " Morning, how did you know?" I motioned with my hand. He laughed, " When you have a younger brother who always tries to sneak in on you, you learn the ways of the force young padawan" he jokingly said. " Star wars fan?" I asked. " Of course, what about you?"

He said as he plated up something delicious and put it in front of me. " Yes...Actually not a very known fact of many but I do love Star Wars" I said watching his muscled chest flex. I practically was drooling looking at his six pack along with the v going down towards his basketball shorts. " Get a good enough look?" He smirked at me. " I'm sorry" I stammered as he turned around and got me a cup of coffee. " It's okay, I'm not bothered by it" he smirked at me then took a sip of his coffee as he handed me mine and my fingers brushed against his. I felt a jolt of electricity as he touched me and he smiled as I thanked him for the coffee. The silence was broken by my phone ringing in the bedroom, " Excuse me" I said as I ran to answer it. " Hello?"

" Hey Kelly where are you?" Mac asked me.

" Umm..at a friend's house?" I said. Not sure how to put me and Glynn but I guess we are friends .

" Okay, well if you can you need to come to the bar.... something's happened " he said sadly. " Okay, I'll be there soon" as I walked back into the kitchen and Glynn looked worried. " Everything all right?" " I'm not sure, Mac told me to come down to the bar, something has happened but not sure what" I said. He nodded, " Okay, let me grab a shirt and I'll take you." " Yeah that might be a good idea, don't want to give everyone a show" as I pointed to his naked chest. " Only for you babe" he said as he winked at me and walked next to me and planted a kiss on my forehead. Then he went upstairs to get dressed I stood there shocked not sure what to do.

Glynn's P.O.V

After I kissed her forehead, I took even myself by surprise. I could tell something was wrong and it just felt right for me to do that to her. After our conversation last night, I definitely felt closer to her than I ever thought I could and I wanted to get to know her more. I stepped down the last step after grabbing a shirt and she was still standing in the same spot I left her. " Kelly, you okay?" As I came up and grabbed both her arms and looked into her deep blue eyes. " Yeah...." she said as she looked up at me and licked her lips. " Why did you do that?" she asked. I scratched back of my head nervously, " You looked upset and I wanted to comfort you" which was the truth. " hmm" she said as she nodded and then held my hands in her's. It felt so right and I could feel the electricity flowing through us and at that moment, I watched her eyes and it was as though she was searching for something. " May I kiss you?" I asked her as she whispered " Yes" then I claimed her lips upon mine. As I sweetly devoured her lips, the taste of coffee and sugar still remained and I loved it. Her sweet smell of flowers entranced my senses and her kiss just made it all that much more for me. As we broke apart, her plump lips swollen " That was...." she said and I nodded. " Yes it was" as I pecked her lips again. " Let's go and then we can come back and talk" I said as she followed me as I held her hand out to my Jeep.

The drive to Mac's Bar and Grille was a short drive and I just held her hand as the soft country music played in the background. " Oh no" she whispered as we saw smoke in the distance. As we pulled up into the parking lot, firefighters and a fire truck were stationed there. They were standing around a vehicle that had been torched to the frame. Kelly put her hands over her mouth and began sobbing. " My Jeep"... I stopped my Jeep and she ran out to Mac who was talking to one of the firefighters. She hugged him and I felt so bad for her and jealous at the same time.
