Chapter 15

Glynn's P.O.V.

" What are you doing here?" she asked me as I stood in her office frozen. I had overheard my brother's plan to his receptionist about taking Kelly with him to the job site near her hometown but wanted to talk to her first. " I wanted to talk to you." I said. " Oh now you want to talk, might be a bit too late for that darling..." she said as she walked past me and sat down at her desk. She looked perfect sitting there and I was admiring her for more than a minute. " I thought you were going to talk..." she said. " Ehhemm, yes I overheard my brother talking about taking you to the jobsite.." "He already did.." " What do you mean he already did?!" I exclaimed. " Well after my meeting with the Realtor, thank you again by the way. He said that once I was finished, I had to come to his office" she said as I sat down. " What did you say?" " What could I tell my boss? No, I can't escort you around town so that you can destroy one of the things I still love? Yeah that would have gone well considering what I told you but I'm sure you already told him about me."

" Not really, he got the information from HR about where your from, I never told him about us" She shook her head, " Well it doesn't matter, because I had to lie to him in order to keep my job and play nice. I have work to do sir, so if you have any other questions, you can email me" she said as she sat focused at her computer and completely ignored me. I sat there for a minute and knew I had to go about this a different way in order for her to trust me again. I didn't know exactly how I was going to do it but I needed to do it quickly.

I walked back towards my office, told Jackie to hold my calls while I called my grandmother, Geraldine. " Hey grandma, I have a few questions to ask you" as I proceeded to tell her my issue. She gave me some few good pointers and I felt relieved at being able to get her advice. She was a strong older woman who didn't take crap off of anybody, but had a heart of gold. I put my plan into action, if this didn't work I wouldn't have a prayer.

Kelly's P.O.V.

After my run in with Glynn, my day went alot smoother. I hated to ignore him, but I didn't know what else to do for him to get the hint. It was hard to do, but I was at my wit's end. Henry came in a little later to check on my progress and he gave me two thumb's up for my work. " You've really caught on here, Kelly. Great work" Henry said as he patted my shoulder and let it linger for a minute. I turned to look at him and he just smiled sweetly at me. " So umm, about the property over in the Desoto area, do they look to be on target for the ribbon cutting?" I asked him as I noticed the numbers hadn't added up yet.

" Yes, they are working on finalizing a date for that. The money that was upfronted for that project has not been fully paid yet, it's supposed to be deposited next week I believe" he said as I nodded. " Okay, because as of now, we are in the hole about $5 million with that project" I said as Henry looked over my figures again. " Yes, you're correct, the other CPA didn't catch that before they left. If you find anything else like that come up, please let me know immediately." Henry said as he walked out of my office and I felt like I could finally breath.

I finished up around 4:30pm and went to stretch my legs when I saw the heifer from yesterday, Jackie walking towards me. " Oh, your the new girl. Hi, I'm Jackie" " Hi, I'm Kelly, nice to meet you." She looked me up and down, " Likewise, can you tell me where Mr. Griffin is? His brother has a message for him that requires his immediate attention" " Umm, no. I assumed he would be in his office" I said. "Hmm.. I already checked. Looks like I'll have to find him myself" she said as she stomped off. I just shook my head at her actions, As I went to the break room and got some coffee to help me with the last few minutes of the day. I had already made a shopping list of what food I needed to buy but didn't have that much money till I got paid so I would just make do. I walked back to my office and there stood Griffin. " Where were you?" he ordered me. I turned back towards the break room, " I went to go get some coffee, why?" " Come here" he said as I nervously walked closer. " Are you seeing my brother?" he asked me. I had been seeing Glynn but since I told him everything, we weren't an item any longer. " No sir, why?" I asked as he ushered me into my office and shut the door.

" Because he purposely got my grandmother involved and she wants me to come visit her during the time that we are supposed to be out of town. How convenient that he has you yet once again by his side?" he stared at me. " Well sir, I can assure you that we are not seeing each other, maybe she just misses you?" I said reassuringly. " Maybe you're right, we will see though. I am keeping an eye on you both. Henry!" he yelled as Henry came into my office. " You will be accompanying Miss Miller and Mr. Worthington to East Texas for the EPA meeting and breaking ground event" as Henry smiled widely. " Yes sir, I would love that" as Griffin nodded then looked at me again. " Be careful Miss Miller" he said as he and Henry left my office and I could finally breathe again.

Glynn's P.O.V

As I headed out for the day, I knew I was going to need a stiff drink. Griffin called me, raging mad because I had convinced Geraldine to get him to come over and spend time with her. I smirked as I remembered Griffin getting so mad as I received an email from him.

Glynn,

Henry Caldwell and Kelly Miller will be joining you to the proposed development in East Texas.

Griffin

Great! Not only will I not have any alone time

with Kelly but now Henry is joining us. Game on brother!

I got home and had decided I needed to call Kelly.

" Hello?"

" Hey what are you doing?"

" Umm trying to cook some dinner"

" May I ask what?"

" Umm, Barbecue chicken"

" May I come over, I've got some great wine that will go with that"

There was silence then she answered, " Sure I guess. Bring a salad too"

" Ok see you soon"

And I never felt happier going to a grocery store to grab what I needed.

Once I stepped into the elevator heading up to Kelly's condo, I was nervous. She had ended us and I wanted us to be okay. The doors opened and I put in the special code and the door unlocked. " Hello?" As I heard music coming from around the corner and saw Kelly shaking her booty like nothing I had ever seen before. It was quite a turn on.

" Oh my goodness?! How did you get in here?" She gasped in surprise. " I have a special code to this place remember?" I chuckled as I brought the bags to the countertop. " What is all this?" she exclaimed. " Well, these are some flowers for your new home. And I just bought a bunch of things for us to snack on and eat with your chicken " I said as I emptied out all ten bags of groceries. She just stood there floored, " Well thank you" as she began to put things away and I noticed her cabinets were quite bare. " Why haven't you gotten more things?" I asked her as she just shook her head. " I didn't have enough money..." she said quietly. I went and grabbed her by the

hand and brought her to me. She was shaking and I knew she was as nervous as I was. " Why didn't you tell me Darling?" I asked her as I looked deep into her eyes. Tears were in her eyes as she just sighed, You've done enough Glynn. I wouldn't dare ask you for anything else" as she sobbed against my chest. " Shh...it's okay. I'm here now and will have everything taken care of " as I kissed the top of her head.

Kelly's P.O.V.

" Shh..it's okay. I'm here now and will have everything taken care of " as he kissed the top of my head. My head and my heart were fighting an internal battle with what I should do. Here was a man willing to take care of me, practically invited himself over and yet I was torn about what to do. " Okay" I said as I knew the man was going to do whatever he wanted to do in that regards anyway.

" Good Darling, now what can I help you with?" He asked as I pointed to the salad he brought and he got to mixing it. I checked on the chicken on the grill outside and it was almost done. The cornbread in the oven went off and I rushed to get it. I bumped into Glynn and he grabbed my hips and brought me back into him. " Darling, I could have gotten that" he whispered against my neck as I shivered. " It's okay" as I pushed my backside into his groin and he groaned. " Darling" he moaned. I laughed and got the cornbread out. Glynn let go of my hips and I just smirked at him.

" You're playing with fire Kelly" he said. " Oh I know it" I winked at him as I swayed my hips, walking back to the grill outside.
