32Ava Germaine: I have bad news. We need to talk. When Cecil entered Perdonna’s lobby, the mansion was silent. Immacolata was nowhere to be found. Figaro’s usual gnawing sounds were gone. “Ava?” Cecil called out. “Down here!” A muffled yell came from behind the golden dinosaur. A tile was lifted. Beneath, a charcoal-covered staircase was lit with emerald LED lights. He climbed down into the dark tunnel, emerald lights turning him green. He came to two black pressurized doors that towered several feet above him. There were no windows. No lights coming through. “What is this?” Cecil asked through the doors. “Spiders,” Ava replied. He heaved open the doors and cautiously entered into… spiders. Charcoal-colored rock covered the walls, and a dozen fake black twig trees rose a dozen feet
