Uhmm Boss?

“Oh gosh I’m so sorry... I didn’t mean to insult you I just was on my way to lunch and when I’m hungry I get angry and when I’m hungry and angry I get hangry.. I just.. please don’t fire me” I started to ramble. I can’t help it when I get nervous. I was looking to the floor spewing of apologies and when I still didn’t hear a word or reaction I looked into his eyes. Biiig mistake! When my gaze met his I could feel the coldness from his gaze but just underneath I saw a hint of amusement. Confused I stopped talking and looked down again to his shoes. Hmm at least he has a good taste in shoes even if he lacks manners. I heard him clear his throat and I started to feel heat in my neck and cheeks, hoping I didn’t just say that aloud. “If you are done here , I do have things to do. No need for you to apologize we were both kind of distracted, yeah?” , he said with a hint of a smirk on his lips. “Yeah ... yes of course. Sorry again Mr. Turner” “Sam.” “Excuse me?” I furrowed my brow. “Just call me Sam. Mr. Turner is my father. And my father always told me never get in between a lady and her food so if you would please except my apology for almost knocking you over, tell the kitchen staff to put it on my account, I have to get going.” Without a second glance, he made his way to the elevator just as Cassidy was coming down for her late lunch break because the meeting was finally over. Cassidy ran over to my side and looped her arm through mine. Just as the elevator was about to close I smiled at Sam and said, “Hey! Uhm boss?” He raises his brow. “Nice shoes.” The playful hint in his eyes surfaces again right as the elevator shuts entirely. We turned to walk arm and arm to the lunch room as Cassidy looks back twords the elevator then to me. “What was that?” , she said with confusion and amusement mixed into her expression. “Oh nothing” ,I replied, “ I just thought if he’s nice enough to offer to pay for my lunch after almost knocking my soul out of my body, I can be nice enough to compliment his nice shoes. After all, I did put a scuff mark on them” I grinned, looked at Cassidy and we shared a laugh. Sam , huh? ************************** “ He really told you to call him by his first name?!” Cassidy whisper yelled. She had a fry dangling between her fingers as she rapidly chewed and listened as I described the encounter between me and the big bad boss. “Oh...my...gosh! I can’t believe you even got a word out of him out of the 5 years he started this company we never heard him speak outside of a meeting! This is office history” I giggled as she got a distant look upon her face as if she just discovered a new species. Her eyes came back into focus has I started to take a sip of my Mt. Dew. “And tell me how you got him to pay for your lunch, as cold as he is I wouldn’t have been surprised he could do something so sweet” she eyeballed me as if I held some deep dark secret only she could decipher. “Simple.... just almost break your ankle and I’m sure anyone would have the decency to pay for your lunch” I started laughing as a French fry went flying over my head. “Fine keep your secrets , enough about “Sam the Ham” my place or your place for tonight? “ she asked me clearly not letting me back out of our planned celebration. “ Let’s go to your place I know you have something new you bought that your dying for me to see.” I smile at my friend who can’t resist walking past a*****e with the New Sale sign hanging in the window. “For your information I have about 5 *smirk* and since you were darling enough to finish that big stack of work I can sort it and we can finish the day early” she clapped her hands and I already knew what she had in mind. “Make-over?” I asked with a grin. “Make-over.” she confirmed. She smiled and I could have sworn I saw a glint of evil in her eyes and I inwardly cringed. God help me.
