Chapter 5: Went as Planned

Kyla hurriedly followed Ava. Jax and his team, together with Miss Patty, were left inside the meeting room.

ATTY. JANG: Mr. Jax, don't worry, I will talk to Miss Ava about this. I am sure she will accept our offer.

MISS PATTY: An offer?

ATTY. JANG: Yes, Miss Patricia, and the same also goes to you. We -- need your help. We want you to be a witness and testify that Miss Ava, in a way -- forces you and Mr. Kendrick Kim to sign the marriage contract. MISS PATTY: (Sighed) What if I tell you that I have more information about this situation than all of you here, including you, Mr. Jax. What if I tell you that the 50% of Ava's share in your father's property truly belongs to her?

JAX: WHAT? What do you know? You are just an owner of a restaurant.

MISS PATTY: A restaurant your father gave to me. (Everyone was surprised) Everything that is happening now is bound to happen -- as planned. Including this? (Showed her phone)

"Breaking News: The Leon Group and Company shared the last video of Mr. Kendrick Kim. In the video, Mr. Kendrick is in his office and he mentioned that he is recording in the year 2021. He shared all his plans with the company and having Mr. Jax Kim, his only son, as the future CEO, but what surprised everyone was his announcement of Mr. Jax's marriage with Miss Ava Sydney Chiu, he mentioned that their marriage was registered on the day of the recording."

JAX: ----

ATTY. JANG: (Took her phone and is about to call someone)

MISS PATTY: (Opened her bag and showed her ID, working at Leon Group and Company) I worked with Mr. Kendrick Kim as his informant and the same private investigator. Whatever is happening now, I am the only one who knows this.

JAX's SEC: (Phone rings) What? Okay, I'll call for more security. (Looked at Jax) The press, they bombarded Miss Ava outside. (Turned on the TV and the live broadcast)

They saw a lot of people surrounding Ava and Kyla outside the company. Even some of the employees were there. Ava's face looks so scared, but the press kept throwing their questions "Are you really the wife of Mr. Jax?" "Why did you hide your marriage?"

"May I know where you came from?" "How did the two of you meet?"

MISS PATTY: (Looked at the TV) I will also explain to you everything after -- but -- for now -- Miss Ava is -- (Jax stood up and went out)

Jax went down to the entrance and some reporters saw him. "Ohh? Mr. Jax Kim is here?" "Mr. Jax! Are you really married to her?" Jax didn't respond, he took his blazer off and covered Ava. His car arrived, he opened the passenger's seat on the front and let Ava enter, his secretary then turned over the key to him and he drove away.

JAX's SEC: (Faced the press) We know you are all surprised and curious but we humbly ask you to wait for our official statement about this matter and also to respect Mr. Jax's --- and Miss Ava's privacy. Please. I hope this won't happen again.

Inside the car, Jax just drove away while Ava remained speechless. They didn't talk to each other for several minutes.

AVA: (Phone rings) Hello?

KYLA: Where the hell are you? Where did he bring you? Av, it's getting worse. Your engagement was announced on the news, that's why the press bombarded you.

AVA: (Closed her eyes and took a deep breath) What? News? (Looked at Jax) (Call ended)

AVA: Just drop me here.

JAX: It's not safe, everyone knows about you already. Just tell me your address, I'll take you home.

Jax arrived home and took the flash drive from his pocket. He decided to play and few minutes in the video he saw his Dad smiling and preparing himself.

JAX'S Dad/MR. KENDRICK: How do I look?

MISS PATTY's VOICE ON THE BACKGROUND: Yes, Sir. You look amazing.

JAX'S Dad/MR. KENDRICK: I must be, this will be aired soon when I am not here anymore. I want the world to remember me as handsome as this.

MISS PATTY's VOICE ON THE BACKGROUND: Okay, Sir. Let's start recording now. First, we will do your speech, the one for the media and the public, then your message to Mr. Jax and lastly -- to Miss Ava.

JAX'S Dad/MR. KENDRICK: (Sighed) Okay. Tell me if it's okay to start already.
