The Shunned She-Wolf

The sky, grey and barren. Wind howled and clattered against the walls. Snow and sleet fell unceremoniously and synchronised, coating the ground in a fluffy, white layer. Evelynn sighed as she sat at the window of her small bedroom, looking out to the onslaught of wind blowing the heavy trees violently. It was mid Winter. Early January when people are settling from the holidays and are starting back at work or school. Evelynn had to work anyways; she doesn’t get any holidays. She has to work to survive, to repay the misfortune that clouds her life. One thing she is looking forward to, though, is her birthday. Her 18th birthday. She will finally get to meet her wolf and shift for the first time. Maybe she can even find her true mate and move away with him and be happy. She thinks it’s all just wishful thinking, to be able to escape this place anytime soon. She doesn’t know how much longer she will have to work here, to compensate for her parents’ mistakes but she can try. Her mood sours at the thought of her parents. She misses them. At least they were kind to her. Though they had causes chaos in the pack, left me with the Alpha and Luna and ran away, never to be seen again. She always wondered what happened to her parents. Did they hated this place just as much as she did? Did they not actually love her? Evelynn wishes she knew the answer to those questions, but she didn’t, and probably never will. *knock. knock* Evelynn flinched, snapped out of her thoughts at the noise. She climbed away from the window and headed to the door, opening to come face-to-face with the pack Luna, Isabella. “What is it that you require from me, Luna?” Evelynn asked, politely. She didn’t wish to be forced to stay any longer than she had to because she disrespected the pack hierarchy. The woman was taller than her by a few inches. Her straight, raven-black hair curled around her face and fell down her back, stopping abruptly by her hips. Her eyes were a dark, chocolate-brown that glared daggers, skin was tanned but soft. She was slim and pretty but on the inside, she was a cold woman towards those who she deemed “unfit”for her kindness. The woman pursed her lips. “Our son’s girlfriend and her family will be visiting us today and staying for dinner. Make enough for everyone and have it done in-time ,” She spat before walking away and down the stairs. Evelynn sighed again before walking back into her room and changing into the clothing they required her to wear. The Alpha and Luna’s son, Lucian, was cruel. He loved to torment anyone he could, but especially Evelynn since she was easy access. He often joked about her parents abandoning her, or joking that if she did ever find hey true mate, he would leave her another woman. It hurt her, but she powered through it and did her best to ignore the pain it brought her. She made her way downstairs to the bottom floor, entering the kitchen and giving a quick nod to the other servants. Evelynn was in-charge of all the cooking so she got to work alongside a few other women who completed some of the minor tasks of the cooking.
