"Your brother was my mate." She'd announced unceremoniously out of nowhere. I stopped in my tracks disbelieving. She just kept walking. I run ahead and blocked her path making her come to a full stop. She could have pushed me aside if she wanted to but she didn't.
" What did you say?" I asked her softly not believing what my ears had heard.
"Your brother was my mate." She repeated simply. But this time there was a heaviness in her voice. Without a second thought I pulled her in for a hug. I hugged her so tight as her hands hang down awkwardly. She patted my back even more awkwardly then pushed me away.
" I'm so sorry." I whispered looking deep into her eyes trying to understand her emotions. I couldn't even begin to imagine how it must have felt to lose your mate.
