CHAPTER 17

1169 Words
That morning, the Galloway residence was very quiet. Not because it is uninhabited, but because all the residents are silent without greeting each other. Alexander's return immediately changed the mood of Delilah and her son—William. The party that had been busy was suddenly quiet when Alexander arrived with a lavish gift that was able to amaze people. Of course, that messed things up, refuting the rumors they had worked so hard to make in front of the important guests that Delila had deliberately invited. Seeing his son back, of course, Immanuel was very happy, at least he was able to repay the crushing blow that Delilah and William had shown him and Alexander. In fact, everyone could not stop looking at the gift that Alexander brought last night. It was the most expensive gift of the many gifts that William got from the invited guests. "I could barely sleep because I was so happy to receive a gift from you," William chirped in the midst of the quiet atmosphere at breakfast for the Galloway family. Alexander's words were not a compliment to him, but it would be strange if William actually complimented him, especially when he said that while glaring at himself. "I'm glad if you're happy, I should have bought a much more expensive gift for you." "Ah...don't worry, I'm afraid you'll cost the company money—" “You seem to have misunderstood, William. I bought this blue ocean diamond with my money, not the company's money—ah… I forgot, you've only relied on Galloway's company money, unlike me,” he sneered with a triumphant smile. Feeling insulted, William immediately got up from his chair and was about to approach the man, but Delilah quickly grabbed his son and asked him to sit back down. "Never mind, this has been breakfast together for so long. Aren't you ashamed? Let's eat first." "Yes, your mother is right. Let's eat first—" "She's not my mother," said Alexander. "She is not my mother, Mr Immanuel Galloway." Immanuel snorted in annoyance. "Well, she's not your real mother, but she's still your mother legally. Can we act as a happy family for just 1 day?” Delilah, William and Alexander were silent. Of course they can't do that even if it's for a play. "Alright, this is much better." They went back to eating their food, though of course they sometimes glanced at each other as they glared at each other. Until finally, someone came over to them. She who smiled blushed when she saw Alexander's face, he didn't even care about her presence. "Good morning everyone," she greeted. She couldn't take her eyes off Alexander, not caring that her fiancé was there too. William immediately got up from his chair, then approached Ivone Scholher and took her intimately without any worries. “Thank you for coming this morning, Ivone. Come here, sit next to me," he said, without noticing that his fiancé was very uncomfortable being in his arms. William chose a chair that was next to his chair. The place was right across from Alexander, who was still busy eating his food. Alexander's arrival last night was something that could make her dark life at least a lot better. She came like a lamp in her life, giving true hope that she could never get. Now she and William are engaged. In fact, they are already planning a wedding in the near future. But, at least, being able to keep seeing Alexander every day was more than enough for her, just like now. “Eat a lot, Ivone. The bride and groom can't be skinny later," said Delilah while filling an empty plate for the woman. "Thank you, Miss-" "Mother. Call me Mother-in-law." Ivan nodded slowly. "Okay, Mother-in-law." Delila and William competed to show their harmony in front of Ivone, but the woman didn't seem to care and focused more on Alexander, who finally turned to her by coincidence. It was realized by Immanuel, the man thought to test it a little. "Ivone, don't you and Alexander go to the same faculty?" Ivone, who was surprised, then turned to Immanuel. “A-ah… yes, that's right. I went to business school, just like Alexander.” "Honey, you study in that faculty? Gosh ... even though I heard that there is less quality there, "interrupted William, not wanting to lose, he seemed reluctant to give his father a chance to talk. "Who says it? There are many successful graduates there, one of them is your brother, Will,” said Ivone unconsciously. This annoyed William. He rolled his eyes at his fiancé. “A-ah… I see ... I see.” Immanuel wanted to laugh, especially when he saw Delilah's angry expression right then. He glanced at his son—Alexander, now is the time for him to take over from here on out. "Lex, this afternoon, let's meet Mr. Felix Carpenteur." Hearing the name called, Delilah immediately rolled her eyes. She knew the purpose of the meeting was to form a coalition through marriage. She remembered well that Felix had a daughter who was still single. “What do you want to do?! You want to set Alex up with the Carpenteurs' daughter?!” Immanuel nodded slowly. "Yes. Why? Do you have a problem with them?” "But they're not part of us—" "Isn't this a really good idea? That way, we can expand our cooperation with the Carpenteur family.” To be honest, there was no such encounter with Felix. Immanuel just wanted to make Delilah and William worried. Alexander knew that too, but he remained calm and silent. "If it's for business, I'm fine. But, if we were there to discuss marriage, I didn't want to come," he said, greeted with Immanuel's sharp gaze and Delilah's cynical laugh. "Why?" "Because I already have a lover waiting at Barington." Everyone was silent, including Immanuel, who knew nothing about the news. "Don't joke-" “Do I have to be like William, who always publicizes his relationship with every woman? I'm not that type of guy. Oh yeah, Mother… I think this is a good time to tell you something.” Alexander rose from his chair, then glared at Delilah. “The woman who 1 year ago came to my room, she is my lover, not a prostitute like you said. Then, it seems that from now on I will have to follow in William's footsteps, introducing him so you don't misunderstand again." "You-" "Thank you for the food. I said goodbye. Please enjoy your food, I have to go.” The man walked away, leaving the Galloway family and also the jealous Ivone behind. She had introduced herself to Alexander before on several occasions, but he didn't even remember her at all. Then now, hearing that the man had a lover, it felt like there was a fire burning in her chest. Immanuel was aware of all that. This was a good opportunity—he thought.
