CHAPTER 16

1151 Words
Sam was pensive in his room, he still couldn't accept Lucia's rejection last night. Lucia was his first love, that's why he was quite careful before finally deciding to share his feelings with her. What's more, Lucia didn't want to share her reasons for rejecting her feelings, only saying sorry and then leaving and reluctant to give her time to talk. All of this was very painful for him, it felt like his chest was now very tight, holding back the tears he had been holding on to since last night. If he knew that rejection would be very painful, he would never want to follow his mother's advice to express his feelings and choose to keep the feeling to himself. "You stupid Sam!" Mrs Gwen looked at her son with pity. Although her son hadn't said anything about the results of his hard work last night, from the expression on his face she could guess what was going on. She walked into Sam's room, brought a cup of hot coffee to warm up her body, which felt frozen because the weather was really cold. "Sam." “A-ah… Mom.” "Mom brought a cup of hot coffee for you, drink it." Sam took the glass from Mrs. Gwen and set it on the table. "Thank you." The woman sat on the edge of the table and rubbed her son's back gently. "Tough day, Sam?" “Uhm… that's how it is.” “Yeah… it can't be helped. I'm sorry, I thought she had the same feelings as you, but who would have thought that you would actually get a rejection from her?" Sam took a deep breath. "Looks like she really didn't have any feelings for me from the start, I just had too much hope." Mrs. Gwen got out of bed again. "I think you need some time to yourself, so I'll go first." "Yes." The woman walked away, leaving her son to ponder what was going on. Young people's love affairs were not something that was easy to understand, so she would let them sort it out on their own. While they were preparing breakfast for them, there was a knock on the door from outside. Mrs. Gwen walked to the threshold, opening the door for her guest who had arrived at this early hour. She smiled faintly when she saw Lucia standing outside. She looked awkward as their eyes looked at each other. "Good morning, Mrs Gwen," she greeted. The woman smiled broadly. “Yes, good morning, Lucia. What is it?" Lucia looked doubtful. She looked into Mrs Gwen's house. She didn't find Sam there. "May I have time to talk?" “Yes, please come in—” "Can we just talk outside?" "Can. Wait a minute, I'll save this first," she said, showing the apron she was wearing. "I'll be waiting for you downstairs, madam." "Okay." Lucia walked away, while Mrs. Gwen returned to the kitchen as she said. She quickly caught up with Lucia, who was waiting for her. Of course, in her heart he kept wondering what Lucia was going to tell her. At least she was starting to wonder what Lucia was about to say had something to do with her rejection of Sam. Once there, she was surprised by Lucia's suitcase, as well as several boxes containing her belongings. “Lucy… what's wrong? Where are you going?" she asked in surprise. Lucia smiled bitterly. “Madam… I want to say goodbye. Today is my last day staying here.” Mrs. Gwen was, of course, surprised, this was beyond her expectations. "Why? Did you leave because you felt bad for Sam? Rejection is normal, he must be able to accept it sooner or later.” Lucia shook her head slowly, Mrs Gwen's reaction was as expected. The woman was very kind, of course she wouldn't be angry just because she rejected her son's love. "Not because of that, madam. My boyfriend suddenly came and asked me to live in his apartment.” Hearing that, of course, Mrs. Gwen was surprised. "Beloved? So, you already have a boyfriend?” “Actually, we were fighting before I finally decided to move here to take care of grandma. But now, we've made up again," he said. Mrs Gwen was actually disappointed, but she tried to respect Lucia's decision. "Alright, I can't stop you from going either. But, never forget us. If you have time, come for a visit, okay?” Lucia didn't know how to explain her current emotion. Mrs. Gwen was a very kind and understanding person. "May I hug you, madam?" The woman spread her arms wide. "Come here, son." The woman then hugged Mrs. Gwen tightly, feeling the warmth of a mother figure in her "Thank you, madam." “Call me Mom, I already consider you my daughter. Even if you and Sam aren't together as lovers, you can at least be together as a family, right?" Without hesitation, Lucia immediately nodded in agreement. "Yes, of course." While in his room, Sam saw all that from inside his room. He didn't know what the two women were talking about, but he certainly felt curious now because he saw Lucia carrying a suitcase. "Where is she going?" he muttered. Then he got out of bed and went to meet them. However, before that happened, Madam Gwen had already returned first. "Sam? Where are you going?" "Where is Lucy going, Mom?" Mrs Gwen sighed heavily. "She said goodbye to get out of the apartment. He said his girlfriend asked him to come back to live with her in his apartment." Hearing that, Sam rolled his eyes. "Beloved? Doesn't she have a boyriend?" Mrs. Gwen told her what she had heard from Lucia. Of course, she was also very sorry for that, considering that Lucia was a good woman and Sam loved her very much. "I know you like her a lot, but you had better just let it go." Sam suddenly ran outside, he was trying to catch up to Lucia. Seeing that, Mrs. Gwen then went after her, but unfortunately the woman had already left the car that Ken was driving. Now he could only lament his mistake. At the very least, he should be able to say goodbye to her, instead of being a coward who hides behind his room just because he was disappointed at Lucia's refusal. "Sam...." "It's all my fault, ma'am. If only I kept this feeling inside forever… if only I hadn't made things difficult for her, she definitely wouldn't have left, right?” “Sam… she said it wasn't like that, all because she already had—” “That must be just an excuse. You know what kind of person she is, right? He must have done this because he wanted to avoid me.” Mrs Gwen could only sigh heavily. "I don't know, Sam... I don't know."
