CHAPTER 15

1314 Words
Lucia took a deep breath, staring at the busy streets. There were traffic jams everywhere. Through the window of Alexander's men's car, she could see how beautiful the view of the city was. At least it made her feel a little relieved. "Would you like to stop by somewhere first, Miss?" Alexander's men asked her. Lucia was reluctant to answer, she was lazy to respond to the question and chose to remain engrossed in enjoying the view of the busy city. The hustle and bustle of the city does feel suffocating, but sometimes seeing that busy life makes her mind a little calmer when she's feeling frantic. Mrs. Gwen and Sam probably wouldn't ask her much, but she was worried about how they would react if they found out she was officially lovers—no! More precisely, as a prisoner of Alexander Galloway who is already famous as a high-end Play Boy who often plays with women out there. She didn't even want to admit it, this was really embarrassing—she thought. "Master, what is your name?" Lucia asked the boy who was now in charge of escorting her. "You don't need to speak formally to me, Miss. Just call me Ken." Hearing that, Lucia couldn't help but smile bitterly. She does have a dream of wanting to be a rich woman and respected by everyone, at least so that no one will insult her for being poor. However, this was not the way she wanted. If they found out she was Alexander's lover, they did not respect her, but out of fear of getting into trouble with the madman. “A-ah… well, Ken. Can I ask you something?" The man named Ken nodded slowly. “Please just say what you want, Miss. Don't be shy, Mr Alexander ordered me to make sure you get whatever you want." “No, it seems you misunderstood. I'm not asking for anything or anything, I just have a small request for you." Ken furrowed his brows in surprise. "What request, Miss?" “Could you just wait on the shoulder of the road? I mean, don't wait in front of the house. I'm afraid Mrs Gwen misunderstood and worried. Don't worry, my house only has one way out and you can see me going in and out only if you go through one way in." Lucia waited expectantly. Hopefully, Ken can give him a little tolerance to calm down and explain to Oliver's family about her having to get out of the house she rented. To be honest, she wanted to run away, but Alexander's threats made her not have the guts to do so. Ken thought for a moment. After all, this is a big responsibility for him. This was the first time Alexander had ordered his men to escort a girl. Moreover, he heard from his colleague. Alexander was always with Lucia all day long. However, looking at Lucia, who seemed to be begging him, as well as the sincerity in her eyes, he felt pity. "Okay, I'll wait on the shoulder of the road. But, instead, tomorrow morning, we will go to Mr Alexander's apartment. If you don't agree, I'll still be waiting for you outside your room. We can leave tomorrow afternoon." Lucia took a deep breath. Ken is quite a careful person, he always keeps things balanced and fair— Lucia thought. Now she had to make a choice, but the latter was a much better choice than being kept all night on the doorstep by Ken. "Alright, we'll go tomorrow morning." "Alright, I hope you won't try to escape." "I won't, I promise." Ken drove at a moderate speed, until they finally arrived at a modest apartment building belonging to Mrs. Gwen. He parked his car in a parking lot at the 24-hour mini-market. From there he could see the entrance that Lucia meant, that meant that she was indeed honest – in his mind. "Are you sure you don't need food or anything?" Lucia shook her head slowly. "Nothing. I just want to go home and sleep." "If you need anything, just text me, I'll get it for you." "Yes, thank you." The woman grabbed her bag, then got out of the car after checking the situation around her residence. After making sure everything was safe, she then ran to her simple apartment. How surprised she was when she got there. Sam was waiting in the doorway of her room. When he saw her return, the man smiled broadly. "Lucy, you just got back?" "A-ah… Sam, what are you doing here?" asked Lucia in surprise when she saw Sam's unusual appearance. The man wore a more casual shirt, also tidying up his hair which was usually left a little messy. In fact, the man also shaved his mustache and beard. "I was going to pick you up, but I was worried you might feel uncomfortable. Do you have time? There's something I want to show you." To be honest, Lucia wanted to stay at home one last time, but seeing Sam mean it so earnestly, she couldn't bear to say no. "Okay. But, I'll change clothes first, just a moment." "Okay, I'll be waiting for you." Sam waited expectantly. Tonight he intended to convey his feelings to Lucia, who had managed to make him fall in love. After talking with his mother-Mrs. Gwen, he finally got up the courage to say his feelings that he had been hiding for almost 1 year. It didn't take long, Lucia came out of her room, wearing simple clothes like she used to wear every day. "So what do you want to show me, Sam?" "Before that, you have to wear this first," he said as he took out a piece of cloth to cover Lucia's eyes. "W-what is this? Should I close my eyes?" "Yeah, put it on first, okay? Trust me, I won't do anything you don't feel comfortable with." Of course, Lucia knew that Sam was not the type of arrogant jerk like the man who was now officially her lover. "Yes." Sam tied the cloth to cover Lucia's eyes, then led her off to the roof of her mother's modest apartment. There, there was a table with two chairs that Mrs. Gwen had prepared for their romantic dinner, and a sprinkling of heart-shaped rose petals added to the romance of this special evening. "Wait a minute, I have to do something." "W-what?! Where are you going?" asked a panicked Lucia as Sam let go of her hand. "Just a moment, believe me." Sam lit some candles that had been provided there, then returned to the woman who was now waiting for him. "That's it. Now, open your eyes," he said after opening the cloth. Lucia slowly opened her eyes, then she was shocked by the scene before her eyes. "Sam-" "It seems you can understand my current purpose. I… like you. Not as a friend, but as a woman. Since the first time we met, I've liked you. I love you, Lucia," he said as he tightly gripped Lucia's hand. There was a feeling of emotion, especially since Lucia had felt the same way all this time. Sam is able to help her forget Rudolf, but bad memories with Alexander keep her from approaching Sam, who is too good for her. Now, that hope is dashed, considering she is Alexander's current lover. She let go of Sam's tight grip, then she took a deep breath. "Sorry," she whispered and then ran away, leaving Sam, who still couldn't believe hearing Lucia's refusal. The woman sobbed, embracing her despicable self. Now she doesn't deserve happiness, let alone expect genuine love from a good man like Sam. She ignored the sound of a knock on his apartment door, leaving Sam disappointed because his hopes were in vain. I'm sorry, Sam – she thought.
