CHAPTER 25

Alexander repeatedly looked at the clock on the wall, then turned to Lucia, who was still busy with her work. It was time for lunch, but Lucia seemed unconcerned and continued to work. He really liked the woman's sincerity in working because he was also a work Holic, but apparently facing people who had the same habit made him irritated, especially since he was a woman who was now his lover. "Uhm," he tried to clear his throat. It seemed to have managed to distract a little from Lucia's attention, who was now turning to look at her. "Are you thirsty, sir?" Alexander snorted in annoyance. "Didn't I tell you to talk informally when it's just the two of you?" "Sorry, but we are currently in the office, so I'm just doing my job as your secretary," she said. The man took another deep breath, Lucia was really bothering him—his mind. "Isn't it time for lunch?" Lucia immediately glanced at the watch in her hand. "Is there anything you would like to eat, sir?" “I want to eat you even more right now,” he teased as he winked at Lucia. The woman only replied with a bitter smile. "What's on your mind just thinking about s*x?" she protested. “Oh my… why are you taking it so seriously? I'm only joking." “So, what would you like to eat? I'll order it for you." "I want to eat at a Chinese restaurant, staying here all the time makes me so bored." Lucia shifted her gaze to the pile of files on top of her boss's desk. "Have you checked everything?" he asked doubtfully. "Already-" "Are you sure?" Alexander frowned in surprise. "Are you doubting my abilities?" Lucia quickly shook her head. "I do not mean it like that. I just-" "Alright, let's go and continue the conversation this morning." "Why didn't you just tell me earlier? I still have some work pending, didn't you ask for it?” "We'll do that later after we eat. I'm hungry. After all, if you talk about that at the company, you'll only focus on your work and I'll talk like an idiot.” Lucia took a deep breath. She didn't really take any interest in other people's family matters, so when Alexander told him a bit during the trip, she just listened as if it had all just flown by. "Alright, let's go." They then prepared to leave. Actually, Lucia was also starting to feel a little hungry this afternoon. Her energy was drained when she fought those bullies this morning, so now she needed more nutrition to get back to her real problem in life—Alexander Galloway. However, just as they were about to leave, Alexander's cell phone suddenly rang loudly. When he found out that it was Immanuel, he tried to ignore it. "Let's go." "But sir, it looks like it's an important call, you'd better answer it first." "You don't have to—" he stopped when his phone rang loudly again. "Oh my... you just wait in the car, I have to answer this phone call first." "Yes sir." Alexander answered the phone call first, while Lucia went to the car as Alexander instructed her. However, just as she arrived at the lobby, Lucia saw Sam walking into the reception desk. The man smiled broadly when he saw the woman he was about to meet was already waiting for him there. "Lucy!" he cried, waving at her, acting as if nothing had happened to them before. “S-sam? What did you come here for?” Lucia asked as she looked around. Many eyes were watching them, so she thought it would be a good idea to just ask the guy to talk outside before they could speculate negatively on her. "Let's just talk outside." "Yes." Lucia quickened her footsteps towards the company grounds. After feeling safe, and far from human observation, he stopped and then he turned to Sam. "What are you doing here?" she asked, while still keeping an eye on her surroundings. “Isn't it okay to visit a friend? I want to invite you to have lunch together at a new ramen shop not too far from here.” The woman sighed heavily, she was very afraid that Alexander would see her with Sam. "You'd better go home, we can meet some other time." Sam furrowed his brows in surprise. "Why? Is it because you have rejected my feelings before? If so, then forget it, pretend I never said anything to you. We might not be able to be lovers, but at least we can be friends, right?” The words were not entirely wrong, it's just that the place and time were not right. Alexander is not a generous person. Lusia is very worried that the man will get angry and misunderstand her and Sam. "Of course, we're still friends. It's just, there are conditions that it's hard for me to explain. Now, you had better go home soon. We can make an appointment another time, of course, on the right day and time,” she coaxed. The man was, of course, disappointed, especially since he hoped to have the opportunity to get close to Lucia again. "Why do you look scared? Is it all because your lover is here? If so, instead of being a friend should you introduce him to me?” Lucia smiled bitterly. How could he introduce Sam to Alexander? It would only lead to misunderstandings between the two and she didn't want that to happen. Even though she didn't know Alexander very well, at least she could guess what kind of person he was. This was the problem. She didn't want anyone else, especially Sam, to get involved, let alone be the target of Alexander's wrath. "If I say yes, will you leave?" Hearing that, Sam was, of course, disappointed. He snorted in annoyance “You're not saying this just for the sake of refusing me, right? I mean you're just making excuses." "Why do you think like that?" asked Lucia in surprise. “Lucy, if you really don't like me, you just have to say it. I will always accept the rejection sincerely.” To be honest, Lucia understood why Sam didn't trust her, who now had a boyfriend. During this time, the man was a friend to share stories, joys and sorrows. Of course, this was something of a surprise because, as long as she had known Sam, Lucia had always said that she was single. The woman again took a deep breath, she hoped that she would understand. "I understand why you're suspicious, but here's the facts," she insisted. "Then take me to him." "Not now, maybe later." "I want us to meet today. If you don't bring us together, I'm increasingly convinced that you are just making excuses and don't blame me if I will continue to try to approach you." “But—” Lucia's words were cut off when, suddenly, from behind, she felt someone embracing her. When she turned her head, how surprised she was that it was Alexander. "Sir-" "He said he wanted to see me. Why do you have doubts?” he asked, looking at Sam cynically. Now Lucia could only stare at Sam and Alexander glaring at each other cynically. However, what scared her even more, was now being gripped tightly by Alexander, who was feeling jealous. This is not a good thing--she thought.
