Chapter 18

Hope’s Pov:- 

How can he do this? I was staying in his house, protecting his secret and what he’s doing? Kissing another woman? 

Tears kept rolling down my eyes as I felt unknown pain inside my chest, I don’t know why I was feeling so hurt when I don’t love him or anything. I feel like I was cheated. I laid down on the bed and pulled the sheet over me, “I should stop crying,” I muttered, 

“Why am I crying? He's not worth it!” I laid back and closed my eyes. I kept tossing and turning, I couldn’t sleep at all.    

Why did he do that? The question popped in my head again, tears filled my eyes again. 

Stop, Stop, don’t cry, I yelled inside my head while trying to not let my tears roll down my eyes, I shut my eyes tightly while trying to control myself. With great difficulty, I slept.

I woke up feeling sun rays falling on my face, I groaned while pushing my hair off my face and sitting up. I blinked, trying to adjust to the brightness in the room. As my eyes landed on the figure sitting on the couch and watching me, I gasped and yelled in surprise. 

“What the hell,” I yelled while staring at Dakota in shock, 

“How did you get in?” I asked, 

“That’s not important… fresh up, I need to talk to you!” he said, 

“No… I don’t want to talk to you… Please leave,” I said sternly, 

He sighed while standing up from the couch and stared at me, “I just want to let you know that mom and dad are waiting for you downstairs,” he said and began walking towards the door. I stared at him with my mouth wide open in shock, he came here to tell me that? 

He opened the door and shut it behind, I quickly got up from the bed and walked straight to my bathroom. Although I was disappointed that he didn’t even apologise for what he did yesterday, I decided not to expect anything from him. 

I will not let my mood get spoiled because of him, I will enjoy myself and try to learn more about werewolves and their secrets. 

I took a shower and got dressed, did my hair and makeup before walking down the stairs. I saw Sean and Lilith sitting at the dining table along with Blade and Dakota. As soon as they saw me, a smile appeared on their faces. 

“Good morning,” I greeted while walking towards them, 

“Good morning dear,” Lillian greeted, 

“Good morning,” Sean greeted with a smile on his face, 

“Good morning, hope,” Blade greeted, 

I pulled the chair out and sat beside blade, “Dad, how are mating ceremony preparations going on,” Blade asked, 

“It’s going good,” Sean replied, 

“I just hope everything goes well,” he commented,

I glanced at Blade, he quickly gave me an I'll-tell-you-later look and continued to have his breakfast. 

“Blade, why don’t you give a tour of our pack to Hope,” Lillian suggested while glancing at him, 

“Okay mom,” He replied, 

“Dakota… do you want to join?” he asked while glancing at Dakota, 

He stopped having his breakfast and glanced at Blade, “Only if you don’t have any other plans,” Blade commented, 

“You should go with them, Dakota,” Sean suggested, Dakota glanced at him and nodded his head. 

After breakfast, we headed out of the packhouse. He showed me the training place first, it was a huge place where many males shirtless wolves were training. After that, he showed me a market where we can get basic werewolves’ things like wolfsbane and all. 

“These flowers are mostly used in mating season,” Blade said, 

I started at the beautiful flowers, took a bunch, and smelled them, “They smell good,” I said while smiling at him.

“What are they called?” I asked, 

“Freesia,” Dakota answered, I glanced at him and put the flowers back in the pot, I have been ignoring him and kept walking with a good distance between us. What he did yesterday has been rushing to my mind whenever I see him. I just can’t let myself get hurt, so I decided to not look at him at all. Maybe that could reduce this pain in my chest.  

Blade showed the huge place where the mating ceremony takes place every year, “What happens in a mating ceremony?” I asked looking around the beautiful place. There was a stage and in front of it, so many chairs and couches were placed.

“It’s like a marriage… there will be a competition held… in which all matless wolves will participate and if they found their mates… they will get married here… an elder will ask them to take vows and pray for them to the moon goddess, that’s it,” he said,

“What competition are you talking about?” I asked with curiosity,

“You will see that tomorrow,” He replied,

“Hm…I’m excited to see it!” I said while glancing at him,

“You will love it,” He replied,

He showed around the mansion, “let me show you the border!” He said,

“That’s a bad idea,” Dakota said while staring at Blade with a disapproval look,

“No… It’s fine,” Blade said while grabbing my hand and dragging me with him,

“Blade,” Dakota followed behind and kept telling us that we shouldn’t go to the border, it’s not safe.

“This is the border of our pack,” he showed,

I looked around, it was a thick forest and there wasn’t any wall or something to say it’s the border. I glanced at Blade in confusion,

“How do know that...this… is the border?” I asked,

“When you cross this, you will feel as if something got ripped from you,” Dakota answered,

“Oh but…” I took a step ahead,

“Ah!” I groaned in pain as my feet hit the stone and I tripped over, before my body could hit the ground a familiar strong pair of arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me back. I opened my eyes and meet his emerald eyes, he held me in his arms while staring into my eyes.

All of a sudden, what he did last night flashed in front of my eyes and tears filled my eyes, I quickly moved away from him and tried hard not to let my tears flow down my eyes. I looked away from him and hid my face from him but I was too late. He saw my tears and I noticed slight anger in his eyes.

All of a sudden we heard a low growl coming from behind a tall tree, our heads turned in the direction of the growl. It was low and dangerous, Dakota immediately grabbed my wrist and pulled me back and stepped in front of me.

“Stay behind,” he said,

I stayed behind and with a loud growl something jumped ahead of us, it looked like a wolf but it wasn’t fully shifted. It looked so dangerous and it had red eyes, he growled at us with his sharp teeth.

“Rogue,” Dakota clenched his jaw,

“I told you…this is a bad idea,” he said glaring at Blade,

“Hope… Run!” He said while turning to me,

“What?” I asked in shock,

I glanced at Blade and saw him shifting into a big grey wolf,  “I said run!” Dakota yelled and pushed me, I stumbled back. I quickly stood up and turned back, I glanced at Dakota and saw him sifting into his wolf form.

I began running from there while looking back, Dakota lung onto that rogue wolf and both began fighting intensely. Blade lunged onto the rogue wolf from another side while it attacked Dakota. I stopped running and hid behind a tree.

They were fighting each other, biting, and growling. Blade and Dakota aimed for its neck and lunged at him at a time, while it was trying to bite Blade, Dakota took the opportunity and ripped its head off its neck.
