Chapter 19

Hope’s Pov

I stared at the head of the wolf which was thrown away from its body with my eyes wide, blood was flowing out of the dead wolf. I gulped hard and stared at Blade and Dakota who were turning back to their human form.

Looking at the blood and head I felt nausea and vomited, my throat went sore and my vision went blurry. My head was spinning and I placed my hand over the tree and tried to stand still but I lost my balance. Before I blacked out I saw Dakota running towards me. I felt being lifted before completely losing my consciousness.

I heard constant voices coming beside me, my head and throat were aching. I opened my eyes slowly and blinked rapidly, as my vision cleared I saw Dakota and Blade along with their parents standing in front of me and looking down at me with concern evident on their faces.

I looked around, I was laying on a bed and it looked like I was in a hospital but I was confused. I slowly sat up, “Where am I?” I asked,

“Pack hospital,” Dakota replied, he handed me a glass of water and I took it.

“Thank you,” I said and drank it whole at once, I felt so thirsty.

“Pack doctor said you should rest and have some health drinks,” Blade said,   

“Okay,” I replied.

They took me back to the packhouse, Dakota lifted me in his arms and took me to his room. His strong musky fragrance made my head light. Even though I was hurt by and was upset with him, I couldn’t control myself from putting my head against his hard chest and wrapping my hands around his neck. 

I let his body smell fill my head and closed my eyes, breathing his smell made my body relax and the stress I had disappeared. I slowly slipped into a deep slumber.

I woke up feeling sun rays falling on my face, I groaned while trying to block it with my hand. I opened my eyes and blinked several times to make my vision clearer. While pushing my hair back I glanced at the person who was sleeping beside me. 

I gasped and moved away from them. Who is he? I thought while placing my hand over my chest and looking at him. I bent over and looked at his face but his face was covered with his hair. I could see who he was and it made me a bit irritated.

Who the hell is he? And Why is he sleeping in my room? 

I was about to wake him up but he groaned and turned around, It was Dakota! 

“What the hell,” I groaned, 

He slowly sat up while rubbing his eyes and running his fingers over his hair, “Good morning?” he greeted, 

“What the hell are you doing in my room?” I asked while clenching my jaw, 

“Huh!” He looked around, 

“This is my room!” He replied, 

“No…” I replied, 

“This is my room…” I stopped in mid-sentence as I looked around the room, 

“Why am I in your room?” I asked in confusion, 

“I didn’t want to sleep in your room,” He shrugged his shoulders, 

“Argh!” I groaned in annoyance and walked towards the door, 

“Where are you going?” he asked, 

“To my room!” I replied and walked out, 

I stormed to my room and pushed the door open, “Jerk!” I yelled in anger and walked to my bathroom. After doing my morning routines, I got dressed, combed my hair and headed to the living room. Everyone looked busy as I noticed them rushing in and out of the mansion, I noticed blade at the dining table and walked over to him.

“What’s happening?” I asked while staring at them, 

“Mating ceremony is gonna start in an hour... “ he replied, 

“Oh…” I replied while sitting down on the chair, 

“I’m excited,” I said while glancing at them. 

After having breakfast, We all walked to the ground and saw everyone gathering there. The atmosphere here was enthusiastic, everyone seemed excited to find their mates. Sean walked to the stage and announced the mating game will start in fifteen minutes and asked everyone to get ready. 

“After dad blew it, the female wolves were gonna run into the woods and hide… after a few minutes… Males wolves will go into the woods… they will have to find the female ones with her scent… males wolves have an extremely strong sense of smell… they can find their mate's scent from miles away…” Blade said and hearing his words the night when Dakota came to my house in his wolf form rushed to my head. 

I glanced at him and our eyes met, I quickly looked away from him and stared at the ladies who were standing in front of the line. As Sean blew the whistle, they began running into the woods. Everyone was cheering for them as they began running into the woods.

A few minutes later, men began to stand in line for their chance. Blade made his way towards them and stood there, “Best of luck,” I said while smiling at him. 

“Thank you,” he replied, 

As Sean blew the whistle, everyone turned in their wolf forms and ran into the woods. Everyone began cheering at them, I kept clapping my hands while watching Blade run into the woods. Compared to the other wolves, Blade was a bit bigger. 

I watched him disappear into the woods as sat there, “Will he find his mate?” I asked while glancing at Dakota, 

“I don’t know… but I wish him to find his mate as well,” he replied while staring into the woods, 

“I wish too,” I replied while meaning back, 

“Um… Whatever you saw that night is not what you think,” he said all of a sudden, 

“Huh!” I glanced at him in confusion, 

“That night… Ember was just a fling… I don’t have any feelings for her,” He said while looking at me,

“I… feel guilty for what I did!” he said while staring into my eyes, I noticed genuine guilt in his eyes. 

“I’m sorry… forgive me,” He said, 

I didn’t know what to say, he shocked me with his sudden apology. I stared into his eyes, he took my hand in his and moved it towards his lips while staring into my eyes. 

“I will not hurt you again,” he said while placing a kiss on the back of my palm, 

As his soft lips touched my skin, a tingling sensation rushed all over my body. My breathing hitched and my throat went dry, I pulled my hand off his grip and looked away from him. 

Don’t fall for this! Hope. 

Let him apologise and feel sorry for what he did!

I will not forgive him so soon, he will have to suffer and feel the pain I felt. He has to realise what I went through.
