Chapter 20

Hope’s Pov:- 

I watched men and women walking back towards us with all happy and shining faces as they found their mates. I waited patiently for Blade, “Where is he?” I muttered while trying to locate him from the people walking back but he wasn’t there. 

“I think he didn’t find her this time too,” Dakota replied, 

“This time too?” I asked confused, 

“Last time when we turned 18, we both participated in it but we didn’t find our mates... later I found you…” he stated, 

I stared at him without saying a thing, people are extremely happy to find their mate, why aren’t you? Why are you not happy that you found your mate? Why do you always seem unhappy to me?

I sighed internally and looked away, Maybe I’m just wasting my time knowing that you don’t love me, Dakota. I think it’s better if I just keep my distance from you and concentrate on my studies. If things are meant to happen nothing could stop them. 

“Blade,” Dakota called,

I turned in the direction and saw Blade walking towards us with a sad look on his face, “he didn’t find her,” Dakota muttered with concern evident in his eyes. 

I stared at Blade and I felt bad for him, he looked disappointed and sad to not find his mate, I read that if they don’t find a mate they would grow distracted. Finding a mate is essential to them. 

“My mate isn’t there,” he said sadly, Dakota placed his hand over his shoulder. 

“You will find your mate soon, don’t worry,” Dakota assured while smiling at him, 

After the mating ceremony, everyone returned back to the packhouse. Dakota said once Blade finds his mate, our mating ceremony will be held. As both are twins, their mating ceremony will be held at once and after that, Sean will step down from the Alpha status. 

Day went on with celebrations and parties, Sean congratulated everyone who found their mates and had the pack dinner. We all sat down for dinner and pack servants began placing the dishes on the dining table. 

I was sitting between Blade and Dakota, our head turned as we heard someone pulling the chair beside Dakota. It was Ember, she gave a smile to Dakota and showed her perfect white teeth. She looked like an attention-seeking dog; I clenched my jaw looking at her. Sudden anger was making me want to grab her hair and drag her from here. 

I looked away from them, why am I angry? Let them do whatever they want! Why do I care? 

I glanced at Blade and saw him looking at me with concern in his eyes. I looked away from him and tried my best to ignore this ace in my chest. As the pack servants began serving us I Began having my dinner. I tried my best to ignore her irritating laughter and her annoying voice but it was getting on my nerves.  

I glanced at them, saw Dakota saying something and she laughed at him while placing her hand over his shoulders. She was too close to him, every time she laughed her boobs were touching his arm. 

I gripped the fork so hard while clenching my jaw in anger, I had enough, I just can’t do this anymore, I thought and placed the fork down slowly. I slowly got up from the chair, I tried not to gain anyone’s attention but Blade stopped me.

“Where are you going?” he asked gaining everyone’s attention, “You didn’t complete your dinner,” He added, I glanced at Dakota, who was looking at me.

“I’m full,” I replied and walked straight to my room,

Tears filled my eyes, I could feel everyone’s gaze on my back, I tried to not let my tears flow down my cheek but it was hard. I rushed to my room and shut the door behind me, I pressed my back to the door and let my tears roll down my eyes.

I sat down and pulled my knees over my chest, “Why?” I sobbed; I couldn’t just bear this pain inside my chest. It hurts, seeing him like that with her.

I don’t know why I’m hurt, why couldn’t I see him with her? Why do I care?

Tons of questions raised inside my head and I couldn’t answer them, I don’t have any answers for these questions.

I kept sobbing; I feel so hurt by his behaviour. I just want to go back to my parents’ home; I was happy with them and I never hurt, my life was perfect. I want to go back.

All of a sudden, I heard knocks on the door.

“Hope,” I heard Dakota’s voice coming from the other side,

Why is he here? What the hell does he want now?

“Hope, open the door,” He yelled while knocking on the door,

I wiped my tears and stood up from the floor, I grabbed the knob and pulled the door open. He stared at my face, “What?” I asked,

“I need to talk to you,” he said,

“I don’t want to,” I replied sternly,

He sighed and pushed me inside while stepping in and closed the door, “What the hell,” I groaned in anger,

“Why did you leave like that?” he asked,

“That’s none of your business,” I replied,

“It is… everything related to you is my business,” he said,

“What happened?” He asked,

“Why do you care?” I yelled,

“Of course, I care you’re my mate” He yelled back in anger,

“Oh really, so you remember that,” I mocked,

He stared at me with irritation, “You never treated me or made me feel like I was your mate, Dakota,” I shouted in anger and frustration.

“Today… when I saw how people were happy to find their mate… happiness was evident on their faces…” I said and stared at his face,

“I never saw that happiness on your face, Dakota,” I said,

“You never even talked to me like you do with that, Ember,” I yelled,

“Oh, so…. this is ….about that?” He asked, “All this drama?” He added,

“Drama?” I repeated his words with tears rolling in my eyes,

“You think this… I’m doing drama?” I asked with disbelief and hurt evident on my face,

“Yes,” He replied,

“I just talked to her…why are you so hurt by that,” He asked with irritation and anger,  

I couldn’t just believe what he was saying, every single one present on the dining table could see that they both were flirting with each other. I exhaled and tried to calm myself.

“You know what!” I looked at him,

“You can do whatever you want!” I said while staring at his face, “I don’t care,”

“If you want to make her your mate… Go ahead, I will not stop you,” I said looking straight into his eyes,

“I’m leaving this place in the morning,” I declared,

He stared at my face with anger, “Fine, if you want to go… You can!” He yelled and stormed out of my room.
