THE INCARNATION

It is onwa Asa(The seventh month) and Umunkata kingdom is fully prepared for her annual iri ji ofu (new yam festival) and masquerade feast. The youths were in high spirits with different kinds of masquerades all in appreciation to the gods of Umunkata for yet another successful farming season. Women and children are already gathered at the village square as dancers entertained the great crowd. Eze Ebube and this seven cabinet members (Representing seven clans of umunkata, each for a clan) were equally seated at the village square. The whole Umunkata gave thanks to the gods not only for a bountiful harvest at the just ended farming season but more also for the gift of a king like Eze Ebube. They all danced and made merry till sunset and you could hear the women sing and chanting: Long live our choice king , Long live our chosen king The servant of the people, the servant of the gods The might king that has made peace with the gods The might king that has found favor with the gods The defender of his people in war The great deity himself Oh deity king! Oh king of umunkata! Oh supreme ruler ! Reign forever Ebube Umunkaka … The seven cabinet members representing the seven clans of umunkata rose one at a time to appreciate Eze Ebube for leading them through the just path that pleases the gods and presented gifts of goat, ram and cow to the king. And collectively the gave him the noble tittle Ebube dike of Umunkata kingdom a noble tittle given only to men that have proven to be upright. At dusk when everybody has return their houses after a joyful feast Eze Ebube appeared before his chi (god) to give thanks and appreciate his Chi for being with him through his reign so far as the king of Umunkata and as usually presented sacrifices to His Chi . Eze Ebube did something unusual this time around as he made an unimaginable demand form his Chi. The excited king demanded for his chi that has made him an accomplished king to come and dwell with him in flesh and continue to lead him through his journey as the king of Umunkata. Because Eze Ebube’s way pleases the gods the immortal being (his chi ) is to be translated to wear mortal body. The question is, how will this be achieved?
