Chapter 2

Dalton immediately put on a fawning smile. “Today is the third anniversary of your marriage, so I came here to offer my blessings to both of you.” Dalton took out his phone and pointed to an anonymous investment plan on the screen, saying, “As usual, the Universe Chamber of Commerce will make an angel investment in the Randall Group anonymously.” He glanced at Braylen from the corner of his eye and added, “Please rest assured. Your identity will not be exposed, and it won't attract the attention of Scepter Organization.” Actually, Braylen had another mysterious identity. He was the son of the leader of the secretive and hidden medical organization called Scepter Organization. The organization had numerous biotech companies under its umbrella, with branches all over the world to manipulate political figures and business magnates from behind the scenes and to penetrate political parties. It could be said that if Braylen wished, the world's balance would be shaken. "No need!" Braylen interrupted Dalton. "Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Ferrell, but there's no need for this anymore." After all, he had already divorced Jaslene, and in the future... Braylen looked calmly at the distant street, his eyes growing resolute. "Mr. Ferrell, I need you to do something for me." Braylen suddenly became assertive. "Of course, it’s my pleasure," Dalton nodded respectfully. Braylen gazed into the sky and said lightly, "Inform the whole world that Braylen of Scepter Organization has returned." Braylen had decided to seize the heir position of the Scepter Organization! On the distant horizon, the sky shone brightly, casting a dazzling sunlight around Braylen. Dalton was excited. Finally, Braylen was taking action! He showed his most sincere smile. Suddenly, he seemed to think of something but was hesitant to speak. Braylen glanced at Dalton. “Mr. Ferrell, is there anything else?” “Well... Lord, there is one more thing that requires your assistance.” “Go ahead.” Dalton showed an awkward smile. “The president of the Shelton Group, Brent Shelton, has fallen ill with a strange disease. He’s sought out numerous renowned doctors to no avail. The Shelton family has good ties with my family, so I wanted to ask for your help to save Lord Shelton.” After a pause, Dalton took out a black bank card. “This is the payment from the Shelton family.” Braylen glanced at it. “The Knight Gold Card?” Braylen was slightly taken aback, and then he smiled, “Back in the day, the president of this bank begged me to accept their Supreme Card, the most prestigious one, and I just used it as a dart.” In Braylen’s eyes, it was a trivial matter. However, Dalton was shocked. He couldn’t believe that Braylen had used the legendary Supreme Card merely as a dart. Dalton froze, sensing that the request from the Shelton family might fail. “Please forgive me. I shouldn’t have disturbed you with such a trivial thing.” Hearing his words, Braylen laughed, “You misunderstood me. I was just reminded of the past when I saw the card.” Braylen took the Knight Gold Card and nodded at Dalton. “You’ve helped me solve many problems over the years, so I’ll help you with this one.” Dalton was immediately overjoyed and bowed deeply to Braylen. “Thank you so much!” Braylen waved his hand, indicating that it was just a piece of cake for him. Moments later, Dalton drove away. Braylen toyed with the Knight Gold Card as he slowly strolled through the city. Unconsciously, he found himself back at the Randall Group building. But Jaslene had long since returned to her office at the top. Braylen sighed, ready to hail a taxi to leave, but suddenly, a questioning voice came from behind. “Braylen, did you divorce my daughter?” Braylen looked up to see his ex-wife’s mother and younger brother, Clara Fischer and Rayan Randall approaching him angrily. “Hi Clara. Hello Rayan. What are you doing here?” Braylen greeted them politely. Jaslene’s mother, Clara, was going through unstable emotions at her age. When she was angry, she was prone to high blood pressure, and it was Braylen who usually prepared her medicine. Learning about her daughter’s sudden divorce was something she couldn’t bear. “Yes, we divorced.” Braylen forced a smile. “But it was my fault. It has nothing to do with her.” Although the primary fault in their divorce lay with Jaslene, Braylen took the blame. After all, they had been married for three years, and there might be a chance that he would encounter the Randall family in the future. Therefore, Braylen didn’t want their relationship to become awkward. Unexpectedly, Clara was furious. “Hmph! I knew it was your fault, loser! You must have done something to betray her. Otherwise, why would my daughter divorce you?” Braylen was slightly taken aback. Loser? Over the past three years, he had heard many similar comments from the Randall family. He always thought they didn’t mean it. As Jaslene’s husband, he tolerated her family’s unreasonable behavior. But he hadn’t expected Clara to turn the tables and put all the blame on him. A cold aura exuded from Braylen gradually, and he stared coldly at Clara. He talked to her coldly, “Everything the Randall family has now is mostly because of me.” In the past three years, even just through Dalton’s Universe Chamber of Commerce, he had supported the Randall family with five billion in contracts, enabling Jaslene to become a renowned figure in Upbany Hills. “Braylen, don’t you feel ashamed of saying such things? My daughter has worked hard to make a name for herself, becoming a renowned businesswoman in Upbany Hills at such a young age. Besides,” Clara said, puffing out her chest with pride, “Jaslene has now gained the favor of the Shelton Group. She will be attending the most prestigious investment banquet hosted by the Shelton family's heiress. Once she secures their investment, her future will be even brighter!” Clara pointed a finger so close to Braylen that it almost touched his face. She continued, “And you’re just a loser who managed to marry Jaslene with sweet talk, living off her success. How dare you claim that everything the Randall family owns is because of you? Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?” ‘She’s just an unreasonable shrew!’ Braylen thought, rubbing his forehead and unwilling to argue with her. “If there’s nothing else, I have to go now.” With that, Braylen turned to leave. “Stop there! Did I allow you to leave?” Clara stomped her foot, blocking Braylen’s way. Jaslene’s brother, Rayan, had long lost his patience. “Mom, stop wasting your breath on him,” he said. His dark circles from sleepless nights bore a cold and fierce look as he said to Braylen in his harshest tone, “Hand over the money and get lost! Don’t ever show up around the Randall family again!” Despite Rayan’s tough tone, his years of indulgence in alcohol and debauchery left his voice weak, as if he could be knocked down even with a gentle push. “Money?” Braylen found it laughable, and his smile faded into a blank expression as he responded to Rayan, “What money?” “Don’t play dumb! I know Jaslene gave you five hundred thousand dollars!” Rayan snapped. “That’s my daughter’s money. How dare you take it? Hand it over!” Clara demanded, her hand outstretched. Braylen had been tolerant of Clara because of her poor health and the fact that they used to be families over the past few years, but he didn’t expect them to demand the five hundred thousand dollars that he didn’t accept.
