The Wild Night

Prologue

Looking up from her work she sees a kid staring at her. She raises an eyebrow at him. He looks down surprised. She sighs wondering what is going on Usually she works at her house but she was dog sitting and her car kept making odd sounds. The kid spoke up. "your that girl?" 

The kid squirms a bit she sees this and chuckles. She leans back and looks at the time 2:58pm which meant her break was in to minutes.

"Who sent you?"

the kid answers quickly "nobody Ms. Heart"

"my name is Astrid." Astrid growls hating being called by her last name. The Kid flinched a  bit as she stares at him. Astrid wonders how he found her home in the mountains.

Astrid sighs then speaks. "if your gonna stare, then best help me work. there's a broom in there. sweep the dust or grab a wrench and help me"

The kid nods and moves to help then stop seeing the black lab snarling at the entrance. Astrid glances up hissing at him. The kid glances back at her and says

"I love dogs and cats. I Shepard that passed of old age. I miss him"

Astrid smirks at the kid and turns back to the car 

"Take care of the dog then"

Astrid sets down a meatball sub the kid eyes it hungrily. Astrid grins and nods the kid grabs it fast. Astrid then feeds the dog.

"name?"

"I can't remember it, I think I was in a car crash" 

He shows her the scratches on his arms that look deep. Astrid's eyes go wide.

The kid pulls his sleeves down. Now she knew how he got up here. Astrid sighs "well now I know what kind of creature you are"

The boy stares at her his eyes wide. she didn't want to go into details but then suddenly she hears a yip. she smiles as she sees a silver fox with violet eyes. Astrid Crouches and the fox runs over and runs into her arms. the boy looks shocked

"this is a friend of mine sense she was a kit"

"like me and my dog"

Astrid didn't say anything else feeling a bit uncomfortable about maybe bringing up bad memories. they both eat and astrid shears some slices of turkey with the fox.

"Whats its name?"

"Skylar I think it fits her"

the kid kneels down and skylar goes over slowly sniffing him. Astrid chuckles a bit knowing that skylar is only looking for the food the kid had been eating
