The Last One

Cupcake

    A red dress hugged my curves but since it was Axel's party I knew it would be crowded as f**k. So to be at least a bit confortable I had my converse on. I didn't put make up at all. Just lip balm since I felt my lips were a bit dry. My thoughts about being the prettiest were in the trash can since I just wanted to go and help Gary as fast as I could. My heart wanted to be near dad and spend time with him. 

    Just as I was lost in my thoughts, Gary opened the door like it was his own room. 

    "Hurry!", he said and I raised a brown. He got the hint and continued, "Please".

    I stood up and made my way downstairs. I went to the fridge to get an apple and make my way to the party. I was about to leave when dad approached me.

    "Be careful", he said and I could feel his anxiety through our bond.

    "I'll be fine", I reasure him. He kissed my forehead and gave me my car's keys.

    I gestured Gary to follow me and we got inside the car. Once we were in, he started saying things like what if she doesn't believe him or what if she rejects him and all the damn what if. I didn't pay attention on what he was saying since all that came out of his mouth weren't positive things. When we arrived to Axel's territory the warriors of his pack made sure that we were invited. I knew they were midlinking Axel but as soon as I told them my name they somehow knew I was invited. As if Axel told them before. The only one who they were being cautious was Gary. Which was stupid considering he' s my Beta, actually my future Beta. They let us in and I wanted to kick Gary. He didn't stop talking nonsense until I pulled the break.

    "Gary would you please shut your mouth for at least five seconds", I growled. He knew how to give me a headache. 

    "I'm sorry", he said lowering his gaze. "I'm really nervous", he excused himself. 

    "Yeah, I can tell", I replied massaging my temples. I took a deep breath and face him. "Listen pup, we got here and we are going to make her understand that you are not a womanizer. Well you are but we will convince her and make her believe that you can change for her. You just need a chance and also tell her that you didn't f**k her sister", I said confidently.

    "You sure know how to give a speech", he says sarcastically. 

    "Well you are not helping. You have been talking nonsense since we got inside the car. So are you ready to get your mate?", I ask.

    "Yes!", he said and his eyes turned black. I could tell his wolf was excited too. 

    "Let's go!", I said as I stepped out of the car. 

    We went inside the house and I knew part of my pack was here. Also I could smell Connor's scent over the place. At least I didn't have to worry about Axel since Connor is here. Is not like I can't protect myself but I wasn't in the mood to deal with him. Besides, whenever it comes to him Eden and Rylee are quiet as f**k, like they enjoy his company. In the other hand, I had rather prefer him away from me to avoid a fight between Connor and him. 

    The music was loud as hell and Eden became anoyed.

    "Let's help our Beta and get out of here. The music is way too loud", Eden said.

    "Agree. I miss Leo", said Rylee.

    With my wolves agreeing I turn to Gary so he can tell me where the heck is Claire. While Gary is sniffing the air trying to catch his mate scent, I notice that someone staring at us: Lola, Claire's sister.

    "That b***h", growls Rylee.

    "She's upstairs", says Gary with his dark eyes. I can tell his wolf is really excited. 

    "I know I told you that I could talk to her but...", I stop and continue through mindlink, "Lola's here. She's been watching our every movement". 

    Gary only nods and make his way upstairs while I block Lola's path. She was trying to catch Gary. 

    "I wouldn't follow him if I were you", I warn her.

    "I can do whatever I want", she snaps.

    "Let's kill her already and get home!", growls Eden angered with Lola's disrespectful behavior.

    I can feel Eden's anger slowly creeping in my skin when I hear his voice.

    "Lilah, are you ok?", asks dad through our private mindlink. I take a deep breath before answering, "Yes, I am now thanks to you", I tell him honestly. I can feel him relax a bit but I'm still looking at Lola like I might kill her anytime soon. 

    "You won't pass and that's a final", I snarled. I smelled her piss in the spot but it wasn't too much for anyone to notice. After she shook her head snapping the fear out of her body she reacted.

    "Watch me!", she said and pushed me apart. I almost fell but remained my balance. I was glad that I chose to wear converse.

    "Let's hunt then!", I said and ran after her. I made my way upstairs and jumped to her back making her lose her balance and with a thud she was on the floor. 

    "If you move I'll kill you", I growled. The hall was suddenly quiet and my head snapped to the hall and everyone were looking at us. I could tell they were afraid of my mere presence and for half a second I wanted to be at home with dad. He was the only one who would never give me that look. My thoughs were interrupted by another Alpha voice.

    "What's going on here?", Axel asked looking for the center of attention. When his eyes landed on my golden ones his expression changed like this was a joke and not a threat to one of his pack members. With an amused look he made his way to us. I had a hand in Lola's head so she couldn't move and I wasn't going to let her go until Gary gets his mate back. 

    Axel kneeled in front of us. He was enjoying the whole thing. If he didn't have a grin over his face I wouldn't be sure if he was taking this like a f*****g joke. 

    "So tell me Cupcake, what did Lola do?", he asked making me feel really anoyed. 

    "She's interfering with my Beta's mate", I said and pressed my hand on her skull. He raised both browns and even looked surprised.

    "So Gary found his mate. What an envy", he mumble just for him but I heard him clearly. I arched a brown at him and then he cleared his throat. "Listen Cupcake, I can't let you kill one of my pack members so I would really appreciate if you let Lola go willingly", he said as he got closer to me.

    "What if I don't want to?", I challenge him. 

    "Well...", he started saying with his eyes turning from blue to black but in a flash Gary spoke to me through mindlink.

    "Guess who got his mate back?", a happy Gary got me out of my present problem.

    "Hell yeah!", I replied through mindlink getting off of Lola.

    "Sorry Cupcake, duty calls", I copy Axel and with a wink I'm making myself out of the hall. With that said Gary appears in my vision with Claire by his side. 

    "Finaly!", I say but as fast as I said that Axel grabs my hand and pushes me inside a room. 

    His smell was all over the room and it was dark enough for me to see what was happening. By the sound of the door I knew he locked it. He was really close to me, his breath hitting my face in waves. 

    "Why do you always drive me crazy?", he whispered but from the sound of his voice it was more for him than for me.

    I didn't know what to say. His actions were so weird, I was surprised by his sudden behavior. He's always moking me because he wants Connor to get mad but Connor is not around. I was confused and my wolves were too quiet for my own good. 

    The sound of fireworks got me out of my thoughts. I turned around and saw the fireworks through the windows, they were beautiful. Then I remembered that it was Axel's birthday. This whole party was because in the day time of his birthday he was going to celebrate with his pack and family. I made my way to the window and whispered.

    "Happy Birthday Axel".
