The Last One

A Bit Old

    After my relaxing bath I went to see dad. He went to his office but he hasn't returned. I knocked the door but he didn't answered. I knew he was inside but since he didn't answered I got in. His sleeping figure on  the desk reminded me when I was a kid and had to look for him to tell him that he should go to bed. Guess there are things that never change. 

    "Dad", I call him out and he immediately gets up like I scared the hell out of him. 

    "What?", he suddenly asks.

    "You should go to bed. It's ok if you haven't finished your work, I'll take care of that tomorrow", I suggest. 

    "Yeah. I'll go in a minute but I'll have a run first in the territory", he says rubbing his eyes.

    "Why is that so? You look like a zombie, no offense but you are a bit old to go at 2:13 a.m. for a so called run", I scolded him.

    "Lilah, I'm still the Alpha of this pack and I know Connor is not in a proper state to do it since he drank wolfsbane. So would you have a walk with me and tell me why did you cover him?", he asks in his Alpha voice even knowing that it has no effect on me. 

    "Yes, dad", I simply replied looking at my feet. I know he's not disappointed but curious. 

    "Well then, let's go", he said opening the door for me to go out first. 

    I went outside first and the cold breeze hitted me. 

    "Just Rylee", he said and I understood the meaning.

    "Got it"

    I took off my clothes and shifted. We ran to the borders and checked the patrols. Soon we ended up in the river inside our territory. I guess I took a bath in vain. He stopped near the river and I couldn't help but drink water from it. 

    "Now, tell me. Why did you lie?", he said through mindlink. He was calmed but I wasn't. So I decided to go straight to the point.

    "I found my mate"

    We were silent for a long time. I was still looking at the river and there was no emotions coming from him through the bond. 

    "I already knew", was his response. "What I don't know is why you didn't want to talk about it", he said and my ears went flat on my head. 

    "Because I can't feel the mate bond", I finally said.

    "So you don't trust him?", he asked.

    "I though I trusted him but I really don't. I mean it feels right to be by his side but there's also part of me that is literally screaming because I can't tell him who I am and I feel like a liar", I started to walk in circles while I told him everything that was on my mind. 

    "You are not a liar and you'll know when you should tell him", he said and I sat in front of him. "If he trully is your mate then he will accept you as the last member of the Thunders family. Besides he is the descendant of the first wolf, if there's a wolf who can protect you and be your mate is him. The Walker family is blessed with the bond created with the Thunders family, but we only serve to protect the lineage not their Alphas or Lunas. But if the time comes, you can always return home", he said.

    "Are you sure you aren't mad?", I asked sheepishly. 

    "No, I'm not", he replied as if he was expecting the question.

    "I'll tell him. I can't keep this up", I conffesed. 

    I can't feel the mate bond but it makes me feel like hell lying to him. I want him to know who I am.

    "Do so but be prepared if he rejects you. If he does, your Lycan wont be happy about it, even if you don't feel the mate bond she will try to kill him. Also this can trigger the awakening of your lycan a hundred percent and that will atract the wandering lycans that have been looking for their Alpha all this time. Think carefully, I know you'll take the best decision for both the pack and for you", he said with wise tone. 

    "I'll try to tell him what I really am. But what of my part w-", he cutted me off.

    "He may like as you are but don't share that until further notice", he said before leaving me there with my thoughts.

    No matter how I look at it, I’m scared. What if he rejects me? If I tell him now, I’m screwed because Eden is not grown up yet. Waiting ’till I’m 21 is also terrible cuz for the next five years I’ll have to lie about my abilities. If he rejects me, Eden most likely will kill him taking full control of me and will call the remaining lycans. So yeah, there’s no winning here. 

    After half an hour of thinking, I decided to tell him. Is the best thing I can do and if it doesn’t work, well f**k it! I started running to the pack house to get my phone and call him. Once I got to my room, I called him.

    After two rings he answered the phone.

    ”Lilah?”, he sounded a bit sleepy.

    ”Can you come over?”, I asked sheepishly.

    ”Is something wrong?”, he asked worried.

    ”No! Everything’s fine is just that I...”, I couldn’t bring myself to say it out loud and the silence was to much.

    ”I’ll be there in ten so wait for me in the border”, suddenly said.

    ”I just need to talk to you”, I finally said.

    ”Is ok, Cupcake. I’ll be right there soon”, he replied with a sweet tone.

    With that he hung up.
